We have made great gains in full service since our opening. As part of our commitment to help each child to meet his or her potential, we have partnered with New England Eye to perform vision screening for our students and to provide glasses either free or at a nominal cost for children who need them. Through this powerful partnership, various students received glasses last year, helping them to advance their academic skills. Forsyth Dental provided dental screening for all our students and followed up with substantial care for a number of our students. Northeastern University has helped with screening for hearing, enabling us to significantly improve the learning experience for those of our students who needed specific interventions to help with hearing.
Community Values: Our School provides a nurturing environment in which each individual, child and adult, is well known and supported in their efforts to offer their best every day. Our culture values respect, responsibility, integrity, empathy, high expectations, the joy of life-long learning, and service to others.
Our school is bright with student artwork, including illustrations from our young artists of experiences which make them happy. In our classrooms, students are being nurtured and challenged. Multiple teachers work at separate tables with groups of students pursuing tasks with degrees of difficulty appropriate to each child.
Community Partnerships: We believe that a consistent, close relationship between teachers and families is crucial for the success of students and the school. We want parents to join us for school performances, reviews of your child's successes and challenges, and any day to read, play in gym, or visit a math class.
We hold well-attended performances a few times a year, featuring our young students singing, reciting memorized poetry, or dancing. Parents gather monthly for a program or social event, and most of our families come to our potluck dinners and picnics. Each student takes a personally-chosen book home every evening to read with her or his family, as well as a weekly update on classroom events.
