This was a very stressful job, but it was also very rewarding and a wonderful learning experience. When I started at Bridgeport Hospital I was attending nursing school, which unfortunately, due to family obligations, I was unable to finish.

Busy Work place with good experience and help for growth
File clerk (Former Employee), Bridgeport, CTOctober 30, 2013
A typical work day had several paperwork to handle, along with plenty of phone calls and physcians to assist. This job was my first step to building my social, administraive and customer service skills. Management was Average. They worked on making sure everyone knew what was expected of them. I made many close friends from this job. We always worked – more... to together to get things done. Hardest part of the job was if we were backed up and there was a deadline. Most enjoyable was going to different parts of the hospital daily to retrieve paperwork. Seeing the back end of how a hospital works was very insightful. – less

Medical Health Records Technician (Current Employee), Bridgeport, CTSeptember 28, 2013
Pros: great coffee and good enviroment!
Cons: this is a temporary assignment
This is an exciting job for me which leaves room for advancement, learning and serving a very diverse community. My co-workers are hands on people, ready to assist when there is a sudden backlog. Our management team has an open door policy, and while the work is steady, once you're organized, there's really no hard part.

Cons: management
I enjoyed working at Bridgeport hospital, everyday was a productive day for me, but I was also able to enjoy it laughing with co workers meeting new people, providing the best customer service to other employees that worked in the hospital it was a great experience, I learned that if your willing to start from the bottom work hard and do whatever it – more... takes to better yourself you can advance in any aspect of life, my co workers were great we had good times they helped me whenever I needed a hand and I provided the same for them, there really wasn't a hard part about this job I enjoyed it all, the work environment, my shift everything about the job was great. – less

Productive place to work in
Sleep Specialist and Certified Medical Interpreter (Current Employee), Bridgeport, CTJune 27, 2013
Pros: flexible hours
Cons: healthcare, opportunity for advancement
A typical day at work would be calling patients to schedule their consults or follow ups with our specialists. I have learned a lot about different types of insurances and I have also learned a lot about sleeping disorders. I work with team players which is key to a succesful department.

I am also a bilingual medical interpreter...I have to say I get – more... great satisfaction from helping latinos understand what is going on with them and answer any questions they may have due to the lack of their second language. – less

A typical day at work
Patient Care Technician (PCT) (Current Employee), Bridgeport, CTMarch 28, 2013
A typical day at work....on 3-11 is having 13 patients and 2 techs and 4-5 RNS for a 27 bed floor My manger has an open door rule. You can talk to you anytime,if not she make time for you..Also my co-workers on my shift is the best.we treat each other with love and respect and most of all team work.
The hardest part of the shift its the begining and – more... the end.The begining of shift vital signs, bathroom, blood draws, sugar checks all before dinner.then the end of shift same as the begining of shift...but there is alot a little tasks we have to do in between. Hourly rounding is a must...on top of everything else we have to do .........charting also' But at the end of shift a smile and thank you from the patient is a very good feeling knowing your hard work dont go in vein. – less

Pros: close to home, good benefits.
Cons: very unorganized start-up of the dept.
I was employed at Bridgeport Hospital for a couple of months due to my schedule. I was working every other week until mid-night. I was working in MRI, a new department, and there were very few patients with absolutely no activity. Unfortunately, the schedule did not work for me.

Environmental Specialist (Former Employee), Bridgeport, CTFebruary 21, 2013
Pros: big hospital
Cons: supervisors lazy and antiquate.
Management is lazy and doesn't find things that are wrong before just getting rid of people. Yale now took them over because they where sinking into a hole lets see if this makes things better.

Discharge Phone Call Associate (Former Employee), Bridgeport, CTFebruary 5, 2013
Working for patient relations I learned how to initiate important conversations from the patients that I was calling that were recently discharged from the hospital
