About Bridgestone Arena

This company makes few concessions when it comes to selling hot dogs and sodas at the ball game. Delaware North is a leading provider of food services and hospitality at airports, sports stadiums, and tourist destinations throughout the US and in a handful of other countries. The company oversees concessions at more than 50 major and minor league sporting – more... arenas, and it owns Boston's TD Garden arena. Delaware North also manages concessions and retail operations at more than 25 airports, provides hospitality services at several tourist destinations, and runs racing and gaming operations in half a dozen states. In all, family-owned Delaware North operates at 200 locations and serves 500 million guests a year.

Delaware North's sports concessions unit boasts an impressive list of clients, including Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Soldier Field in Chicago, and famed Wembley National Stadium in the UK. Its parks and resorts division serves tourists at such destinations as the Grand Canyon, and Yellowstone National Park. The division also manages the visitor complex at Kennedy Space Center, which rang up its biggest sales day in mid-2011 when Atlantis blasted off as NASA's final shuttle launch.

Delaware North's gaming operation, which includes a handful of pari-mutuel racetracks with casinos, has been expanding. In early 2011 the company acquired Jumer's Casino & Hotel in Rock Island, Illinois, from the D. James Jumer Trust for $180 million. Jumer's is a 205-room hotel housing a casino with more than 1,100 slots and 24 table games, and it is Delaware North's first gaming establishment in the state. The company also has racing and gaming operations in Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, New York, and West Virginia. The addition of Jumer's brings to more than a dozen the number of hotels Delaware North operates. Other properties in the company's lodging division (Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts) include the Ahwahnee and several other lodges in Yosemite National Park, several hotels near Yellowstone National Park, and five resorts in Australia.

In Boston, meanwhile, Delaware North made changes at its hometown sports arena, renaming the facility TD Garden in 2009. The name change from TD Banknorth Garden coincides with a new branding effort by arena sponsor TD Banknorth, which became TD Bank following its 2008 merger with Commerce Bancorp. (The regional financial services giant is owned by Canada's Toronto-Dominion Bank, also known as TD Bank.)

Internationally Delaware North has operations in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. Among the facilities it serves are Heathrow Airport and Wembley Stadium in the UK; Heron Island on Australia's Great Barrier Reef; the Melbourne Zoo; and Auckland, New Zealand's Vector Arena. In 2009 it purchased five resorts in Australia and signed a foodservice contract with that country's Curtin University. In the UK its Travel Hospitality sector operates at three airports and one railway station.

In addition to running his family's concession and entertainment empire, CEO Jeremy Jacobs controls the Boston Bruins professional hockey team. – less
