Good Company going through some growing pains
Visual Showroom Merchandiser (Former Employee) –  Charlotte, NCApril 7, 2016
This company has a lot of potential but grew too quickly and their employees suffered because of it. The stores and distribution center are pleasant to be in. Hours are typical. Some managers are excellent while others should not still be working there. I felt extremely under appreciated and under compensated while working there. They have some great employees in both upper management and lower management that can really take this company back up to the level it should be running at. Hopefully they will see what they have and be able to achieve greatness!
Pros
reliable co workers, beautiful showrooms
Cons
under experienced managers, understaffed, under compensated

Long boring hours with low pay
Sales (Former Employee) –  Charlotte, NCAugust 6, 2012
The sales position is 100% commission, you may wait for hours between turns and usually work a 12 hour shift.Other salespeople will try to steal your customers if they come back when you are not there. You will always work weekends and holidays. It is almost impossible to get promoted from within, almost all managers were hired externally. Although the product is highly marked up, management tries to avoid any negotiation with the customers, and will walk sales rather than make concessions to get the sale.
Pros
you can sit on nice furniture during long waits for customers
Cons
long hours, low commission structure

Good furniture to look at
Sales rep (Former Employee) –  Fayetteville ncFebruary 8, 2013
This job fooled me. It looked like a great company with a great atmosphere boy was i wrong. You cant trust any co workers or management. You are over staffed on weekends but you will be there looking at each other from 9 to 9pm eve├┐rybody has to work on weekends. Sales commissions quotas are excepted but this company will fire you if you miss one month of commission its called a rolling quota. Ive seen good workers work there for years and get let go because of 1 slow month. Ashleys furniture is everywhere from craiglist to roses. So you have to compete with those stores underbidding your over priced store with the owners an management caring less. It forces your co workers to do dirty things to keep there jobs an livelihood. Like tell customers your not there an etc. Because one slow month your gone. They let a guy go who missed commission by 100 dollars he was there a year. I know most big companies care about profits over the staff but never in my life have i saw it to this extreme its criminal.
Pros
work there if your in dier need until u get something better but keep looking
Cons
no job security. no homelife or free time

Awesome training program, company senior management and regional management has NO CLUE!!!!
Sales Manager (Former Employee) –  Gastonia NCJanuary 1, 2015
Company has awesome product to sell. Delivery team destroys most all the deliveries. When customer has product delivered damaged, and can't get replacement, they cancel the order. The company takes your commission away. After all your cancellations and your commissions taken away, you're working for less than min wage. I stayed for a year, was promoted to Sales Manager after a few weeks. More responsibility, stress and yes, you have your commissions taken too. It seems the owners and senior management have a major disconnect. I would highly advise not working for this company, they have a VERY HIGH turnover rate!!!
Pros
Meet new people
Cons
Lots of hours, minimum wage or less

Wasn't what I was told.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Raleigh, NCMay 28, 2015
Thought this was a stocking dealer, it's not, but it's not a custom order place either. Can't tell a customer when or even if they'll get the furniture they have completely pay for before they are even considered for a delivery. Salespeople get paid on delivered orders, good luck with that.
Pros
Some really cool salespeople
Cons
They have 1 1/2 star rating for a reason

They only care about profit and not the employees. They have a very very high turn-over rate.
