Direct Care Specialist/ Shift Leader (Former Employee) – Louisville, KY – May 21, 2013
Brooklawn Child and Family Services provides help to special needs children with mental disorders. Not a very easy job, but can be rewarding. A typical day a work could be full of joy or blood, sweat, and tears. It all depends on how the residence feel. While working there I learned alot about mental illness in children and how undetected it can go. Especially when you're uneducated about it. I was blessed with a great supervisor. My supervisor was all about teamwork and staying on the same page, which was therapeutic for the kids. While working at Brooklawn you are assigned to your own unit that you work at 99.99 percent of the time. Because your at work alot you become attached to the children you work with and co-workers. The hardest part of my was job was seeing the kids leave and also seeing them go through the different changes with their mental disorders. I loved working at Brooklawn and seeing the kids being successful with the program and knowing that I had a part of it.

Enjoyed working with the boys
Youth Care Worker (Former Employee) – Louisville, KY – February 11, 2013
Its a job. It rewarding in a sense of actually getting to make a difference but all the drama with bosses and the admin building really aren't great. Co workers are great but there are those ones that are there merely for a paycheck and you can see it. Its not a bad job but there are better.
