A beautiful memory. The only company that I would've retired from.
Garden and Sales Aide (Former Employee) –  Brooklyn, NYOctober 21, 2013
At that time I was employed in the gift shop.
I was taught purchasing skills and the care of plants.
Management was secure in themselves and we all did our jobs without stress.
All of the people employed at BBG are like family.
The hardest part of the job was the long train ride.
Just being there was enjoyable for me, every day.
Pros
it's a beautiful scientific research center/garden!!!
Cons
the long train ride.

Lead Cashier (Current Employee) –  Brooklyn, NYFebruary 6, 2013
A typical day at work is filled with greeting and assisting customers. Also i answer phones, answer questions, and completing, and receiving mail orders and shipments. What I have learned from working with the company is to complete mail order and shipments. My co workers are easy going and we pride our selves in compromising. The hardest part of my job will have to be lifting large shipments. The most enjoyable part of the day is interacting with the children that come into the store.
Pros
interacting with the children and demonstrating the merchandise.

Internship (Former Employee) –  Brooklyn, NYJune 4, 2013
I learned a lot about the different plants that were present in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. I also leaned how to preserve plants and mount them onto paper so they can be taken care of. I also learned how to make a key for the visitors, so they are able to identify the plants and flowers.

Admissions/Cashier (Current Employee) –  Brooklyn, NYSeptember 28, 2014
a typical day at work would be when i clock in i go to my supervisor who assigns us what booth we will be in that day i take my bag and count how much money is in the bag and than i walk to the booth sit at a register and turn it on than i take customers some are very nice and outgoing and some can be very rude but i know how to keep my composure, and be nice, and patient, and polite

i have learned to to be nice to everyone even when they are rude and to stay calm in mot situations because customers do tend to get irate and hostile and just to give excellent customer service

management is the bet because there are several complaints about certain supervisors from different coworkers that they seem to shrug off like it doesn't matter and sometimes a little bit of favoritism

my co-workers are great we work as team all the time when we need each others help and everyone is very friendly and outgoing and very fun people to be around

the hardest part of the job is when the festivals come around because there are a lot of customers meaning i am responsible for a lot of money but nothing to major that i cant handle

the most enjoyable part of the job is being able to meet so many new and interesting people who are funny and jolly and sweet
Pros
free admission
Cons
part time
