A typical day would be getting ready for the day by having instructional materials ready. We began with breakfast from 8:15 to 8:30. Pledge followed by the morning announcements. Cursive, writing, reading, PE, lunch, read a novel for instance “Where the Red Fern Grows” ( students followed along as I read to them). They loved it when I changed my voice according to the characters. Math ( love Math!!), Science, Social Studies, centers ( math centers, reading centers , etc.). Music once a week and library once a week.
I taught after school tutorials and after school enrichments. I learned a lot from the materials I was using and how to teach them from trainings. I also learned from my fourth grade students. Worked with a variety of students of different cultures. The hardest part of the job was not being able to teach all the materials in one day. The most enjoyable part of the job was when the students’ eyes sparkled when they grasped the concept.
