Network Control Tech/Sr. Global Support analyst
Network Control Tech/Global Support Analyst (Former Employee), El Segundo, CA – August 19, 2012
Pros: great employee orinetated company
Cons: job were out sourced
This was an old school company that was outstanding to work for prior to IPO and the BT take over. The company was very employee orientated, you were not just a body or number there were concerned about you as a person. They was place to advance the management staff would help advance to either other departments or within the department. I was at this – more... company for 15 years and had planned to be till retirement. After the buy-out of Infonet by BT the company became more corporate and less Family.
All n All BT/Infonet was great place to work. – less

Highly Specialized Training and Technical Environment. Great Benefits
Billing and Rates Analyst (Former Employee), El Segundo, CA – January 21, 2012
Pros: clean, modern and quiet work environment, great deal of paid overtime and a great cafeteria
Cons: too much time in meetings, too many corporate events
I love looking forward to a challenge in my working environment. The billing department was a bit of a change in the way you work. The amount of work you do is based on orders ready to be billed and some weeks were light and others were a scramble but with time management and proper training we were able to overcome the backlog and overcome the problems – more... and exceed our quotas as a team. – less

As long as you are technical, you have a future with this company.
Administrative Assistant (Current Employee), New York, NY – November 12, 2011
Pros: opportunity to network, lots of people, good travel.
Cons: impersonal, no work space boundaries, no job security.
Non technical people need not apply. As long as there is a clearly defined path and a signed contract, this company is a good choice.

Target driven environment
Customer Sevice/Sales Advisor (Former Employee), Lancaster – May 10, 2013
Pros: free unlimited broadband, fibre optic if it is available
Cons: too many targets that change on a monthly basis.
I enjoyed the work I did at BT as a Customer Service Advisor but towards the end of my employment there it became very micro managed and target driven. Customer service went out the window as you had to answer as many calls as possible in the shortest possible time whilst selling new products and services to customers. The management style is JFDI (just – more... f.... do it) or bullying if you prefer. My co-workers were equally stressed. The most enjoyable part of the job was when you could actually spend time with a customer helping them. – less

Safe, secure and well paid place of work
Project field co-ordinator (Former Employee), Newquay – April 29, 2013
Pros: good pay, good hours, all tools/equipment provided
Cons: bureaucracy!
I worked for BT for 13 years and decided that I needed a change. The company looks after you very well if you work efficiently and affectively, I had a great salary and benefits (holiday etc) and potentially a job for life.
As with any large company managerial bureaucracy can be over the top as it is a global company and has to deal with a large range – more... of people and problems.
I was an engineer for 11 years which I enjoyed as it was outside and hands on and problem solving was essential. However once I moved into an office role I found myself frustrated and tired of being stuck indoors so I decided that this was my time to try something else. – less

good sales driven atmosphere.
sales advisor (Current Employee), Canterbury – March 14, 2013
Pros: good commission
Cons: job security, and traveling to work.
I receive an email every day telling me my sales figures for the week, what products to focus on ect.
I have no desire to become a manager as i am happy being apart of the team.
my co-workers are very nice indeed, one of the best bits of the job.
The hardest part of the job is to constantly exceed targets.
the most enjoyable part is hitting targets – more... and earning good commission. – less

Great Company to work for
Loyalty Advisor (Current Employee), Belfast – February 25, 2013
BT is a great company to work for - however promises in a new call centre seem to be pushed aside with hours of work changed at short notice and no rotation of shifts as promised.

A good company to work for.
Directory Enquiries /Inbound Sales Advisor (Former Employee), Hillsborough / Telephone House, Sheffield – January 23, 2013
I thoroughly enjoyed working for BT directory enquiries. All calls were different. We had type-talk and 195 (blind and disabled directories, where we had to deal with speech impediments and confusion.) We had calls from mobiles coming in on one screen and searching on a second before it was integrated into the system.
Good team that worked through-nights – more... with little turnover. Changing to days, I noticed more staff turnover although still had a good morale.
The transition to inbound sales went smoothly when directories in Sheffield was closed. I personally did not enjoy this side though. The targets and time limits were hard to achieve as I am a people person and not a robot. The staff turnover was very high and morale was non-existent. – less

Rewarding
Loyalty Agent (Current Employee), West Midlands – January 19, 2013
Working for BT as a Loyalty Agent, has given me the opportunity to enjoy a challenging, rewarding and balanced work life.
The role I performed at BT has given me the opportunity to unify and collaborate all of my customer service skills, rapport building, and performance related enthusiasm, and focus them on providing a great customer journey. This – more... is because of my wealth of experience in dealing with Customers on a one to one basis, Having the skills to listen and engage my customers, and having the ability to build a rapport with my customers as well as fellow employees and managers. – less

Great place to work
Maintenance engineer (Former Employee), BT Slough – November 27, 2012
Having had many different roles, a typical day does not exist.
The experience and the training brought me through the repair of the basic telephone up to fault finding on the most complex switching systems. Good team spirit within the repair groups.
Hardest part was the paperwork and the best was resolving the problems
