Great place to learn; great people; but not a lot of room for growth
senior consultant (Current Employee) –  NJJanuary 22, 2016
I've been with this company for almost a decade. I love the people, the work culture, and the flexibility to work from home when needed. But due to corporate greed, growth has been limited, and so is compensation such as pay raise and bonuses are barely existent. That being said, it's not so bad after all when this is becoming the corporate status quo
Pros
flexibility of working remotely
Cons
compensation and benefits are not competitive enough

Vice President Wealth (Former Employee) –  Cincinnati, OHOctober 7, 2015
I was with Buck nearly two years and had my role revised and direction changed 5 times. Very chaotic but the overall culture and work life balance are hard to beat.

Sr. QA Analyst (Former Employee) –  Secaucus, NJDecember 10, 2013
Buck Consultants was a consulting firm providing tecnical solutions and resources. Its now part of Mellon Bank.

It was a great opportunity for me to work with team of testers and project managers, and good experience in software quality assurance and automation.

Actuarial Retirement Intern (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXNovember 13, 2013
A typical day at Buck Consultants was working on various projects with multiple clients. This allowed me to learn a lot about different types of actuarial work in the consulting space.

Wonderful Place To Work.
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILMay 14, 2013
Everyday was a learning experience with different challenges and risks.

Management and co-workers were interesting individuals with different type of backgrounds from other companies to do the work.

The hardest part of the job would be lots of deadlines to meet with a short time span.

What I enjoyed most of this job is that with different backgrounds and race you learn a lot from them professionally as well as personally.
Pros
excellent benefits
Cons
mergered with xerox company (downsized)

All Consuming Job that Doesn't Allow for Much Work Life Balance
Retirement - Actuarial (Current Employee) –  Atlanta, GAJune 5, 2012
The stress of taking actuarial exams while working full time makes for a challenging experience. My coworkers are fairly young but it's very male dominated. Management doesn't seem to care much about exam progress, but more about the ability to get work done. However, company policy won't allow you to be hired without at least one actuarial exam passed.
