PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION: Schedule and monitor drivers and equipment to provide on-time delivery and backhaul performance.

- Prepare daily dispatch schedule for drivers and equipment.
- Utilize dynamic routing program to efficiently route outbound product.
- Seek out and schedule backhauls where appropriate; provide inbound report to receiving.
- Build and update inbound and outbound orders in dispatch program.
- Respond promptly to driver’s inquires regarding, but not limited to, breakdowns, directions, and product count discrepancies.
- Monitor drivers’ hours to prevent DOT violations.
- Adjust delivery and backhaul assignments to accommodate breakdowns, late trucks, and other changes.
- Dispatch yard jockey as required.
- Act as primary point of contact for drivers.
- Identify and notify substitute drivers.
- Maintain equipment lists as to availability.
- Follow up on equipment repairs.
- Enforce the discipline of drivers.
- Must work in a safe and effective manner.
- Maintain personal General Maintenance Procedures and food safety guidelines.
- Incidents must be reported promptly to direct supervisor.
- Timely & regular attendance is required.
- Must be able to interact courteously and tactfully with managers, co-workers, customers and/or vendors to the point that productivity and morale are positively affected.

- Contact customers and vendors regarding appointments, time changes, and updates.
- Maintain dispatch and backhaul files
- Maintain contact information in TMW file maintenance.
- Update directions in the computer.
- Assist in accident and workman’s compensation reporting.
- Track driver’s vacation, personal days, holidays, etc.
- Help control the OSHA Incident Rate (OIR) and Lost Time Incident Rate (LTI).
- Any and all duties that may be assigned.

- Direct the daily activities of tractor-trailer drivers.
- Must train and motivate employees to work in a safe manner, lead by example.
- Need to incorporate safety messages in pre-shift meetings and lead stretching exercises.
- Must investigate accidents and near misses in a timely and efficient manner.
- Incidents must be reported promptly to direct supervisor.
- Maintain a zero tolerance for safety violations.
- Perform annual evaluation of drivers/yard jockey.
- Recommend training and coaching on drivers as needed.
- Supervise all drivers and yard jockey personnel.

- Must exhibit advanced transportation knowledge and dispatch experience.
- Must exhibit basic computer skills.
- Ability to read, write, perform basic math computations, identify, and verify numbers by paying close attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and requirements (Federal and State).
- Supervisory Skills.
- Interpersonal Communication Skills.
- Organizational Skills.

- Must be able to interact courteously and tactfully with managers, co-workers, customers and/or vendors to the point that productivity and morale are positively affected.

- Must be able to stand, bend, squat, walk, and twist repetitively.
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
- Computer work 6-8 hours per day.

- Office environment with occasional need to go into the freezer and withstand freezer conditions.
- Must be able to withstand loud noise.
- Must be able to work extended schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
