About Butte-Glenn Community College
Butte College offers classes in a wide field of majors. Because of our location, it is sometimes difficult for our student body to commute to and from the main campus. Bus service is available from the surrounding areas, but by far most of the student body drives the 20 miles north from Oroville, or 20 miles south from Chico to attend regular classes. – more... Where We Are Going:
The main focus at this time includes working closely with staff and faculty to unveil some new classes on the Internet. Lots of hoops need to be jumped through, but things look promising. In fact, some faculty have programs ready to go now. In the next few weeks we will be working out technical details, along with a horde of other background issues. Meanwhile, check out the program listings located on a previous page to see how some faculty are using this resource now.
Working closely with Butte College Television (BCTV), we continue to offer expanded learning opportunities for present and future students. ITFS television courses will continue to be offered for the home and at other designated locations in Chico and Orland. Beyond that, we plan an intensifed effort at continued experimentation with newer forms of teacher/classroom participation. Currently, our Distance Learning enrollment stands at over 2,500 students per year, and we can only see that number going higher. Available program time on each of the four BCTV television channels is pushing full capacity. The only area for real future expansion is in the world of online classes.
Changes and advancements in newer technology are happening faster than most people can keep up. Butte College will be working hard to channel this technology for the benefit of the students. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
