Mostly challanging but gets to learn something new everyday

Most of the work is routine but employees get to learn something new daily when comes to corporate actions, mergers, stocks splits or dividends, OTC securities, withholding taxes.

There is nothing boring or hard about this job as long as the your accounting concepts are strong along with expert skills in Excel and knowledge about how securities trade.

A typical day at work would begin with receiving previous day trade files from the Hedge fund, uploading the same in the accounting software, Advent Geneva. Preparation of cash and position reconciliation using Geneva and Prime broker files, resolution of breaks, processing of corporate action, if not captured in Geneva already. Pricing and valuation – more... of the fund and processing of accruals, expenses and incomes in Geneva, calculation of PNL, generating reports to be verified and sent to the Client (hedge fund).

i was introduced to HFs in Viteos, but the work was limited to trade processing, reconciliation and pricing; Butterfield gave exposure to the full cycle of reporting, from trade processing to recons, to valuation to calculation of PNL, and NAV

Everyday at office was a new day in terms of situations that would arise and the solutions sought.

The Management took keen interest in the working and welfare of the employees and arranged training sessions, out of office team building exercises, and in house fun activities.
