C&F Finance Company is seeking a seasoned Legal Specialist to join our team!
The Recovery Legal Specialist primarily will be responsible for the assignment of charge-off accounts to out of state Attorneys and the monthly follow up on each. Perform skip-tracing to locate assets for judgment execution and document accounts accordingly. Prepare affidavits, judgment satisfactions and lien releases as requested. Negotiate and communicate payment and/or settlement agreements with Attorney’s and/or 3rd party agencies. Communicate and arrange witness request as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for assigning accounts to attorneys.
- Follow up with all attorneys for updates and status reports.
- Act as liaison between out of state Attorneys and C&F.
- Assign accounts to 3rd party agencies.
- Follow up with 3rd parties.
- Skip accounts for attachable assets.
- Manage dialer set up and reports for Recovery accounts.
- Responsible for setting payment arrangements on incoming calls.
- Follow-up on court cases via the internet, attorney, or calling the appropriate court (Garnishments only).
- Act as a backup of the Legal Administrator in their absence.
- Perform weekly filing.
- Adhere to all C&F policies and procedures as well as complying with all regulations and applicable laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include rotating weeknights, weekends, and holidays as business dictates.
Two to three years or more of legal experience in warrant and garnishment procedures is required. Knowledge of collections, recovery and collection law would be ideal. Skip tracing skills would be ideal. Experience and a level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point) required. Proficient PC, computer and typing skills is required.
Strong intuitive, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills are required. Must possess a strong attention to detail. Highly motivated. Excellent phone skills. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Individual must be a team player who works cooperatively with peers, employees, managers and other departments, along with external customers such as third party agencies, court representatives and attorneys. Ideal candidate would thrive in a fast paced, high volume environment.
Must be an excellent listener. Able to work independently. Able to understand the auto loan industry processes and regulations. Able to multi-task in an environment with deadlines and performance standards. Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
High school graduate or equivalent. Associate’s Degree or College Degree preferred.
Employee may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: view computer monitor, keyboarding, talking on the phone, sitting, filing motion fingers/hands/wrists, lifting boxes no heavier than 30 pounds and standing/walking. Employee may be required to perform some travel during working hours.
Work is performed in an operational office environment.
