just like any trucking job not for everyone
Class A CDL Driver (Former Employee), Salt Lake City, UTApril 16, 2014
Pros: get to drive newer equipment
Cons: very hard to get home time
when i first started doing truck driving i enjoyed it for a while, because i got to travel the country practically free. but when i started missing my family and wanted time off to go visit it was almost impossible for me to take time off so wouldn't do over the road ever again. As far as the company you'll deal with both good and bad people. the sad – more... part is there is more bad than good. these people well try to put you down, make you feel like your expendable and reality is you are. because they always have new drivers graduating so they have no value or respect for their drivers wouldn't recommend it for anyone even my enemy. – less

C. R. England
Tractor Trailer Driver (Former Employee), Salt Lake City, UTApril 13, 2014
Pros: good money, brand new trucks, good people
Cons: too far away from home when emergencies arose
C.R. England was the high point in my life. A huge adventure, Very good money, extremely likable people, tons of perks such as safety awards, certificates, jackets, patches, they went on and on. Safety meetings which help to learn the trade and keep you well informed on procedures. C. R. England has got to be the best trucking agency in the US. I loved – more... working for them, and all of my driver managers had good customer service skills. I got to travel for free and explore the US. I learned to drive in all climates of weather, how to chain up, and when to get off the road because safety was theirs and my first priority. – less

Only a good company if you like being jerked around
Professional Driver (Former Employee), Salt Lake CityApril 13, 2014
Away from home and family for too long. Requests for home time ignored. Kept at training pay because they refused to route me back to the Upgrade facility. Not a good company for drivers.

Great people and a great company
Current Employee (Current Employee), Salt Lake City, UTMarch 22, 2014
Pros: great people, exciting work environment, always changing, great management, career advancement
Cons: heath benefits and holidays aren't great, long hours are expected
Working for C.R. England has been a great experience. The people there are amazing - they have people that have worked at the company for 25 plus years. The culture is family-oriented, but conservative. If you work hard, you can advance in your career. The management is now in its fourth generation of family. They care about the employees that work – more... there and allow you to give input that can improve the company. Every day brings on new, exciting challenges. There is never a dull moment. It is fast passed and exciting. If you work hard, you are rewarded for it. The downside is that the hours are long and you don't get the typical amount of holidays. – less

Do not work for them.
Proffesional Driver (Former Employee), Salt lake city, UTMarch 19, 2014
They expect you to be on the road for weeks on end, barely give you any time to see your family. They say you have 4 days of leave a month but need to request them two weeks earlier, and 90% of the time they get rejected.

Great If You Want To Teach
Driver (Current Employee), Salt Lake City, UTMarch 16, 2014
Pros: cdl license
Cons: communication, home time, pay
C.R. England is a great place for people to work. The only issue I've had working here is after all the training and hours you put in, they want you to start training their students right out of training. I don't feel the blind should lead the blind. However, C.R. England management has been very kind and patient with most people I've seen.

RUN AWAY!!!!
driver (Current Employee), everywhereMarch 15, 2014
Cons: everything
As a current driver for CRE, who joined the school and career through the VA program. CRE has been lying from start to finish. I'm still currently finishing my 6 month obligation, at which time I leave having already been offered local, better paying driving jobs.
CRE, failed to honor phase 2, .25 cents per mile, instead discloses .12 cents for phase – more... 2 after your contract of 5k for tuition is signed. if you get stuck with a regional driver at 1k miles a week @.12, that only 120.00! for all that driving and 100 bucks is all you earn? you'd have to be an idiot to think thats fair, especially the price for food at truck stops !!!!!
PLEASE HEED THIS WARNING!!!!!!
CRE tells you what you want to hear making empty promises, all the while willfully attempting to rip you off.
While attending the school, I actually had instructors on the backing range in Ut, tell me to take my license and run!

I come to you fellow readers as a decent human being, stay away from CRE, AND avoid the stress of no money, and the sense of being taken advantage of. I don't have time to go into detail the subsidaires CRE recieves from the attendance, paid by the USG...BUT U won't see a dime! – less

Growing Company...
Marketing Department (Current Employee), CorporateMarch 13, 2014
Pros: home/family life respect, hours, management.
Cons: compensation
Larger companies tend to have problems doing things fast and effective, C.R. England is a large company that still can do things fast and effective enough to strive to become a industry leader.
While they are a growing company, the initiatives seem to follow that mentality, "how can we get better?" There are growing pains, but those are natural and – more... a mix of good/bad.
The management has a vested interest in your success. Co-workers are much like co-workers anywhere. A lot of emphasis on home/family.
I enjoy the growing aspect of the company, it lends itself to people looking to make a positive contribution, while advancing their careers. – less

Great career choice
Marketing Research Analyst (Current Employee), West Valley City, UTMarch 11, 2014
Pros: employee recognition programs, in-house grill, charitable opportunities, fun corporate events, and great exposure
Cons: work silos
C.R. England provides a comfortable work environment, the family-oriented culture resonates throughout the office. On any day, from any position, you can be included and influence a meeting with a Chief officer or other executive management team members. The people are great to work with. In my role I am involved with all departments and divisions and – more... I have had the opportunity to learn from so many brilliant and wonderful professionals. C.R. England is a fast-paced environment and therefore, time-management and a strong work ethic are critical skills necessary to succeed. Working for this company has been a very positive experience and I would highly recommend it to my friends and family. – less

Pros: good instructors
Cons: messy. insecure security, over crowded, waiting, little pay, little home time.
I enjoy reading the comments the people are positive. so lets really tell you how the system works. so first you contact a recruiter. then you are shipped by bus from your town to Utah where england is located. apon arriving at the bus station a taxi comes to pick you up and takes you to england. now here is where they figure out if they can fit you – more... into there housing or they send you to a ramada up the road a few miles(i got the pressure to stay at the ramada) so moving on back to the school. here is how this works. see they want to bring as many people in as they can. witch about 80% of you will get cut any way they can. england gets a 10,000 dollar grant for each person they bring in on the first day. but they cant handle very many people in at a time. so for any reason they cut you. i had a good time. it was fun to watch how many people got cut. it was very fun. the first class instructor you get is a awesome fello. but seriously england is the worst company to take this chance with. i would recommend swift any day over them. don't waste your time with a over crowded messy class place – less
