CALIBRE is helping several companies in the oil & gas industry hire recent military veterans (active within the past 15 years) or active reservists or National Guard members for various jobs in the industry. We have partnered with an oil & gas service provider to develop a program for the oil & gas industry called V.E.T.S – Veterans’ Education and Training Services. In this program CALIBRE will match your military skills and experience to available jobs and introduce you to career tracks for potential growth in the booming domestic oil & gas industry for long term, stable employment.
These jobs are also excellent opportunities for veterans to continue securing America’s future by reducing our dependence on foreign oil.
CALIBRE currently has a client looking for Logging While Drilling (LWD) and Measurement While Drilling (MWD) engineers. Classroom instruction and On the Job Training (OJT) will be provided. LWD and MWD engineers build, install, and analyze data from tools that attach to drill bits to collect critical data to help the directional driller guide the bit through the ground at extreme vertical depths and horizontal lengths to allow the well to achieve maximum potential production. Job duties include interpreting and analyzing formation well logs, directional survey information, and other data received from the LWD tool; maintaining LWD equipment inventory on the rig, checking equipment and advising on repair requirements; maintaining a computer database for ongoing jobs and completing reports at regular intervals; and making recommendations to the directional driller based on analysis of collected data.
There are multiple positions available; some of these jobs are located in Houston, Texas, and others are field engineering jobs based out of Houston, Texas, with rotating on-site rig schedules (primarily land-based rigs in Texas). Field engineering jobs work on a rotating schedule, typically 14 days on the rig and 14 days off. While in the field, there are generally two 12-hour shifts for a 2-person team. Field LWD/MWD engineering jobs are excellent opportunities to learn about every aspect of the workings of a rig to gain a solid foundation for oil & gas career growth.
The client is looking for veterans with a 4-year degree in any engineering field or any math or science related discipline. CALIBRE has identified the following Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) codes as target candidates for these positions, but anyone with the qualifications above may apply:
Air Force: 32E1E, 32E3E, 62E3E, 62E1E, 43E3D, 43E4D, 43E1D
