Assistant Controller (Current Employee) –  Miami, FLMarch 8, 2016
CBS is a good company, however, looking at other opportunities for my professional and personal growth. I have been with CBS for a long time and have learned a lot about the Broadcasting Business in my time with CBS.

Okay company to work for.
Finance (Former Employee) –  New York, NYFebruary 1, 2016
Okay company to work for. You will sometimes run into television personalities depending on what building you are in. However, there is limited room for growth.

News intern helped me learn more about producing
News Intern (Former Employee) –  Sacramento, CANovember 15, 2015
I loved working in the newsroom and going out on the field with other reporters because I was able to learn how to do create stories on the spot and talk with producers about a show rundown.

Stagnate IT Department
IT Techician (Former Employee) –  Baltimore, MDFebruary 18, 2015
The overall station of WJZ has some of the best people in the business of multimedia. Most of the people are friendly and helpful. The IT department however needs a major overhaul. Only the IT Manager knows all the workings of the station, and doesn't offer any type of training. Plus, his micromanagement style is best suited for a recent college grad. The station would be better off with at least 2 IT technicians and 1 IT manager, and the manager should be held accountable for proper training of the technicians.
Pros
Can watch TV all day
Cons
Working on snow days, no matter how bad.

CBS stands for cousins / brothers / sisters
Technician (Former Employee) –  CBS NetworkMarch 20, 2014
CBS management tends to hire relatives of employees with little to no experience and expects the more qualified worker to do most of the work.

Sales Assistant
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) –  New York, NYJune 12, 2013
Worked in CBS Television Stations Ad Sales. A pretty large work-load full of repetitive, time-consuming, detailed orders that require receiving, inputting/program coding for CBS Shows/Specials, and then billing/invoicing.

Entering orders is a time-consuming, mundane, repetitive task.

Sending Make-Good/Credits daily (or attempting to when you have time) to buyers when spots do not air at the correct time or at all is another repetitive, time-consuming task.

Sending over contracts to buyers and keeping the buyers/customers and station staff aware of all changes as they come in.

Interesting industry and not an awful job, especially for someone first out of school to learn a lot about the industry from an industry leader but the work itself is not all that exciting.

Sales Assistants do get drained and during busy times it is a lot of work to clear out.

Good Resume builder for out of school, weak salary for the amount of work and compared to others but they can get away with it.

Training Program is on a need basis and will only be held when there are enough possible trainees, runs about 6 months and your regular work is still expected done while training. Also sign a 5 yr contract upon completion and might not have total control on which CBS market you will be placed out of 14 National markets.
Pros
Good Resume builder with established industry leader, solid health benefits/stock shares.
Cons
Work load, underappreciated, long hours occasionally, repetitiveness of work.

Led the negotiation and sales of national business through 19 offices throughout the country.
National Sales Manager/Account Executive (Former Employee) –  Dallas, TXMay 30, 2012
Worked on 6-10 pieces of business each day. Directed and guided national rep firm on strategy and share goals. Traveled 25% of the time to meet with key accounts in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Atlanta primarily. The hardest part of the job was growing revenue through the post 9/11 period with about 50% of billing coming through New York.
Pros
great opportunity and learning process
Cons
i probably worked too many hours 70-80.
