Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILOctober 20, 2017
The benefits were great! This is a company that has a contract with the federal government. The hardest part of this job was dealing with the government management. There was room for advancement and overtime was offered.

Terrible management and very under handed.
Medicare Investigative Specialist (Current Employee) –  San Antonio, TXOctober 19, 2017
They have no respect for their employees. They are not honest and upfront. The benefits are terrible for it being a worldwide company. I guess they feel everyone lives in Canada and has free healthcare. It is contact work. And when they decide not to even bid on a contract you are SOL and have to find a new job. It is funny they are a IT company and the system is horrible. This is not a good company to work for. They consider a 1% raise good.

Unit Secretary (Former Employee) –  Quantico, VAOctober 15, 2017
You often go for weeks without seeing a manager.
There were only two "team events" in two years: holiday function around Christmas 2016 and the Admin Only meeting to be informed of termination of contract. Being a French/Canadian contractor all corporate information is relayed via email. There is no local human resources and it is all done on-line or via email. Local "manager" seldom seen

At CGI you are not an employee but a member of the organization. Your opinion matters and it is easy to move up an grow from within the company. The only down side to CGI is that most of their Healthcare Compliance are contract based.
Pros
Flexible, great management, unlimited sick time
Cons
Contract work no contingency plans for displaced employees.

Interesting and challenging work, but not a great environment
PMO ANALYST (Former Employee) –  Troy, ALOctober 9, 2017
Typical day's work included consulting with project managers on developing new plans, coordinating updating existing projects, etc.

Daily project review calls, PPQA audits, updating the PMO dashboard, general PMO activities.

The people who work at CGI are magnificent. But work is often hindered by management, conflicting sets of directives, ever-changing leadership at the business unit level, etc. The folks work hard, but the stress related to the environment is much higher than at previous companies.
Pros
Interesting, challenging work. Good people.
Cons
Salaries are LOW for the IT/Software industry. Management could be better at the field level.

Team Lead/Deputy PM (Current Employee) –  Manassas, VAOctober 7, 2017
The company itself offers very little to your experience, ultimately your project and direct manager will make or break your experience at this company. Just hope you get on a good project.

Mgr. - Deputy CFO, CRC CFO PM, Reporting Analyst (Current Employee) –  Cleveland, OHOctober 5, 2017
Drawback is contracts that expire. Like to promote from within. They do like to have employees believe it is the last position that you will have. Very flexible.

Management - They don't care about morale/employee productivity. The benefits are a joke. The salary is not average. People without degrees make more.

CGI is a great place to work. But remember all jobs are based off contracts so if CGI does not get the contract your out of a job. But other than that great place.

Great Place to Work
Passport Support Associate (Former Employee) –  Charleston, SCSeptember 27, 2017
Everyone had a job to. You were assigned to a certain job area so you knew what duties to perform each day.
It is a place where you could learn alot about how Passports were issued. No complaints about management for the most part.
You get to know your co-workers and become family friends in most cases.
The hardest part I think with everyone was peak season. Everyone worked very hard to meet the demand of passports that needed to be processed and mailed to customers.

Working with great people made my job very enjoyable.

I gave a 100 percent everyday. Great work record. Very dependable in many areas.
Pros
Great Benifits
Cons
Hard to Advance from a contractor to Dept of State

Non-Group Health Plan Case Worker (Current Employee) –  Cleveland, OHSeptember 25, 2017
Good work/life balance. Contract work so things will change. It is a tech company so someone such as a business analyst or someone with an IT background might like it here.

They like to take your money
LEGAL ASSISTANT (Contracted) (Former Employee) –  New Orleans, LASeptember 25, 2017
CGI's main focus is to get contract workers for the federal government in bulk. The pay is low and the stress is super high. Plus, CGI tries to trick you into having more and more of your paycheck taken out for undefined purposes. For example, they have something called "social group" that they push on their Red Carpet site, and they wanted to take a significant portion of my check. I still don't know what it is, but with some digging I found out that it isn't mandatory. But it sure looked like it was mandatory at first.

Another example: Benefits. They are mandatory unless you can prove you have benefits through another source. I cannot understand how this is legal. If I don't have benefits, then it is my problem come tax time. It's not my employer's right to take $190 out of ever paycheck for a single person. Also, despite several requests, I never got any information about the benefits nor my benefits card. So I was paying nearly $400 per month for benefits I was unable to use.

Receptionist (Former Employee) –  North Charleston, SCSeptember 25, 2017
CGI had a great work environment. They are a contractor which does mean there is not a strong sense of job security. When contracts are lost, positions are cut and people lose jobs. Otherwise great opportunity and great pay and benefits.

uncertainty of the job length
