Store Manager (Former Employee), Dallas, TX – April 4, 2013
Great place to work. A typical day would start out slow. I would walk throughout store and put together the daily checklist of the duties that needed to be done. Next close out paperwork and deposits from previous day. I most enjoyable part of the was being able to give best customer service possible to put a smile on my customers face. I worked in – more... every dept of the store including pharmacy and photo lab. I learned how it was to be successful leader and manager. – less
Store Manager (Current Employee), NC – April 4, 2013
Cons: too many to list
Where to begin? I have been in retail for 25 years, 8 with CVS. My time w/CVS has been the worse. As a store manager I have seen the company "direction" flounder. Pay-sucks, bonus structure-sucks, hours-sucks, corporate leadership-sucks, CVS-sucks. There is zero chance of advancement. My RM is an idiot. She has not one original thought in her head. – more... All she can do is preach what the new company program might be(which changes daily). If you are asking yourself "Why doesn't this reviewer just leave?" Trust me, I along with EVERY store manager I know are looking for other work! – less
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Knoxville, TN – April 2, 2013
Co-workers were great for when you needed help with something. Managers kept saying to call them when the "assist/escalation line" was busy but they were never at their desks when you needed them. The hardest part about the job was that the training didn't prepare you for all the scenarios & when you needed help or to ask a quick question, you had to – more... wait almost 5-10 minutes before getting someone on the other line to help or had to "wing-it" & then get reprimanded because you didn't know the answer. – less
Customer Service Subject Matter Expert (Former Employee), Raleigh, NC – March 31, 2013
There is no communication, no one takes responsibility for their actions, hire turn over is horrible, management is poor.

DO NOT WORK FOR CVS!
Pharmacy technician (Former Employee), Clearwater, FL – March 30, 2013
Pros: nothing
Cons: everything
I worked at CVS for about six months. My first day I should have seen the writing on the wall. The lead tech was friends with the pharmacist and basically got away with down grading, racial slurs and actions, and creating a hostile work environment. I have worked in many industries in my life including the sex industry, and they are alot more respectful – more... decent and kind than any CVS I worked for. I worked ten twelve hour days, short breaks, pay is lousy, and no matter what you do, you are brow beaten to work harder. Its just like kindergarten and high school combined. The customers can yell at you and you have to take it, then when you have nice ones the boss encourages you to cut conversations short, the pharmacist was disgusting, eating and running her hands through her hair and then with out washing her hands pouring drugs in her hands to count pills. CVS should be shut down violating OSHA, breaking pharmacy laws and regulations, it is terrible for workers and customers! – less

Shift A Supervisor (Former Employee), Mesa, Tempe Scottsdale – March 30, 2013
Pros: mostly friendly coworkers
Cons: over complicated business practices
we have all heard " Do more with less" in business, Well, the current direction in CVS seems to be " Do everything yourself " Because after they cut all your stores hours, you're all that is left to work. yes i do realize retail is notorious for cutting payroll because its an easy and quick money recovery fix for terrible marketing or business decisions. – more... but there is a limit, a customer based company starts shooting themselves in the foot when they cut hours so far back no one can actually help customers. i have seen other reviews on, absolutely true, bad management practices like follow return policies, then when you do and the customer complains (because that is our society today, complain till you get what you want, not whats fair) then you get reprimanded for not pleasing the customer, then change the dam policies or follow them ! Most of the employees were very nice and a pleasure to work with, even my District Manager was nice (even when following directions clearly not agreed with by anyone). I have worked with this company long enough to see it change from a company with clear direction , to a company with no idea what it is doing. Bottom line is if you like being under appreciated, never having enough time to do the job right and getting reprimanded for not doing it right ( no matter what position cashier, supervisor, store manager ) never having enough help, usually pointed out by customers (who have no role in management, but can clearly see it) and expected to be in 3 places at one time, just to go on paid vacation and come back to " we are transferring you to another district, hope you don't mind" then by all means , work here. Btw, its only going to get worse. – less
Customer service representative (Current Employee), San Antonio, TX – March 28, 2013
management wasn't productive at all. the job was amazing, surroundings were great. work ethic was not too fluent. disorganized. but overall a great place to work
Store Manager in training (Current Employee), St. Louis MO – March 28, 2013
Pros: great people, great training, helping customers
I have worked for CVS for over six months as a Store Manager In Training in the St. Louis market. We keep growing and building. I can't believe some of the comments I'm reading about other regions of the United States. Every upper management colleague, district, and regional manager I have come across have been very helpful and friendly. They really – more... care about your individual success along with the success of your store. This is my third career job and will hopefully be my last. Best company I have worked for by far. I love working for this company and from what I have seen they take care of the employees and truly do care about you and the customers. – less
Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee), Parkersburg, WV – March 27, 2013
Pros: always looking to hire new employees
Cons: low pay
Nice place to work with cool discounts. was still in training to learn computer and register system. system is easy to learn. co-workers very friendly. employees seem to all like their jobs. Store manager is great. Would've loved to have stayed to work there if wasn't for circumstances to have to leave. Store manager was in my opinion a "workers manager".
Supervisor Medicare Part D Reconciliation Services (Current Employee), Solon, OH – March 23, 2013
I've been with the company for 5 years, and was able to advance, and learned A LOT! Appreciate the opportunities given to me. I had a good manager, and was able to realize my potential.
Medicare Part D representative (Current Employee), Solon, OH – March 15, 2013
Pros: free lunches
Cons: short breaks/lunches
A typical day at work for CVS caremark was very fast paced, the phone calls were back to back so i typically answered between 80-150 calls daily. Ive learned alot about medicare part D which is medication coverage. the hardest part about my job was seeing alot of people leave that I had gotten close with.
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Nashville, TN – March 15, 2013
it was a good place to work and i learned about medicare. the staff was good to be around. the hardest part of the job is when the systems did not work. the co workers.
All about immediate numbers; no concern for long-term fixing problems
Customer Service (Former Employee), Lees Summit – March 15, 2013
Pros: no
Cons: see details
If you care enough to sincerely help someone, you get in trouble for doing what isn't required. If you're too business-like and efficient you get in trouble for not engaging with customer on a more personal level. Management is guilty of discrimination in many ways. They aren't consistent and once they don't like you you're on your way out. Supervisors – more... act like the job is one big party and they are rarely available when you need them. HR will get away with whatever they can but it will serve you well to know your rights. If you are desperate for a job, apply here but watch your back and don't trust anyone. – less

Pharmacy manager (Current Employee), Hawaii – March 15, 2013
Pros: quitting this job and getting out asap
Cons: management and corporate greed
CVS is a joke. Pharmacy PDMs in Hawaii are the most incompetent ruthless people on this planet. They hire their friends or people who date their friends or people of their own race only. They will hire people out of their race to do the dirty jobs. These Hawaii PDMs have the worst power trip. They think u are their slaves.
Pharmacy Lead Technician (Current Employee), Hicksville, NY – March 11, 2013
Typical day is dispensing medications to patients and taking care of insurance claims. I learned the clinical aspects and as well as the retail area of pharmacy.
