Worst place I've ever worked.
Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee), Lake Wylie, SCJune 30, 2014
Pros: employee discount.
Cons: no structure, no emphasis on working together.
I began with CVS as a sales associate after having managed a convenience store for 2 years. When I was hired I made it clear that I was there to work hard and move up. Shortly after my start date, which was prolonged by a month, a new manager was brought in who knew nothing about how things worked. I, as promised, worked whenever i was needed due to – more... call outs or availability conflicts. Meanwhile, I completed all of the required training modules to become a shift supervisor. When I approached the manager about the possibility of filling that role (We had 2 shift supervisors, and both were leaving in the same month). I was told I was unable to move up because I had been written up for mishandling cash. The reason this is a problem for me is that policy stated that each cashier would start their shift with a fresh drawer. The manager did not feel like counting the drawers that day so 2 of us cashiers ran on the same register all day. so who was really short?
Shortly after this disagreement, a new cashier was hired (that I trained) and within weeks was in the process of being promoted to shift supervisor. When I learned this, I transferred to the pharmacy to try something new. When I arrived in the pharmacy it was apparent immediately I was not welcome. I was the only male, and it was rare that anyone would speak to me. I expressed interest again in wanting to learn and progress, but was only ever scheduled in the drive-thru window. I had to take training classes every couple of weeks and there was mandatory On The Job Training that I needed to complete. I was never allowed to complete these training tasks, the Pharmacists just signed off on them saying I did them. I brought this to the course trainer's attention and he said he would speak to them, but nothing ever came of it. After several months I had an injury and was forced out of work for a week. At the same time, hours were being cut so I was never invited back. By this time I had already been promoted to head cashier at my current job, so I decided not to inquire about the matter. – less

Angry and stressful workplace
Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee), Hildebran, NCJune 30, 2014
Pros: great training
Cons: work collegues can be mean
I absolutely loved the training process for CVS Caremark. It made me feel safe knowing that they took the time to provide all that training. When I started working at the store that I originally applied for I began to rethink my career choice. Every day it became scarier and scarier to walk into work. I was afraid to ask questions because the lead tech, – more... some of the technicians, and even one of the pharmacist will roll their eyes and get bothered when I needed help. Especially if I interrupted a conversation they were having about what they did over the weekend. One day a particuliar pharmacist will be telling me how awesome I was and how happy she was to have me on the team, and the next day she's scowling at everything I do. My smile began fading day by day working there. – less

Customer oriented business, problem is that unless you are in good graces with management, your hours will suck. Worked with 5 store managers and its the same story over and over and over. All in All, Great company

Work place
Customer Service (Former Employee), Clifton, NJJune 29, 2014
Pros: happy customers amazing coworkers
Cons: benafits, boses
Every day I work is just managing the store and seeing what task should be done and giving my coworkers a list of things to do. Seeing if any shelves our empty for i can fill them or order what were missing. I learn everyday about a new product or what i can do better to approve the store. My coworkers our the best were like a feeling they can always – more... talk to me about anything and be honest with me. The hardest part of my job is when my coworkers lie to me or when they do something wrong I have to write them up that is part of my job and i am the manager on duty during that time but i always do my job. The best part of my job is making the customers happy and when they feel comfortable enough to talk to me about private stuff. It feels amazing when the customer leaves happy sometimes they will give me and hug and tell me I'm the happy that is the best feeling ever. – less

Good I started from here to gain initial experience
Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee), Richardson, TXJune 28, 2014
Pros: provides oppurtunity for fresh techs to gain experience
Cons: short breaks
On a typical day, there is great opportunity for multi-tasking in different stages of medication filling. I really put my best here despite the poor remuneration. The immediate management seemed more interested in their personal advancement than the overall welfare of junior staff. However it was nice working with co-staff and I appreciate their effort – more... in helping training me. The hardest part of the job was dealing angry customers at the drive-thru especially in an environment where some of the customers are illegal drug users – less

Little pay, excessive work load, and always understaffed.
CASHIER (Former Employee), Bakersfield, CAJune 28, 2014
Typical days at CVS could be very difficult. The pay was low and what was expected out of employees was at times unreal. I remember before I parted from the company, almost every shift I worked consisted of one cashier and a manager. The most difficult part of the job was the amount of work because we were always understaffed.

Local pharmacy and Tourism Aid
Pharmacy Technician (Current Employee), Cocoa, FLJune 28, 2014
Pros: every day is different
Cons: constant interuptions
Finding out what part of the pharmacy I work in for my shift is usually the surprise, but a good one. Eventually I get to see and work in almost every aspect of the pahramcy except the verification of prescriptions done by the Pharmacist. Management provides aid but are separate from the pharmacy. The teamwork is I think the best aspect of the job! – more... I arrived and was welcomed as a new team member right away, as they need all the help they can get within a store that does over 300 prescriptions a day. I enjoy the people from all areas of the world that visit and somehow make their way into the pharmacy during their stay with us. It is wonderful to meet the locals and tourists alike. – less

Pros: the work scheduel was flexible
Cons: unorganized
Very comfortable enviornment.
I learned alot about how insurance and paitent plans work.
I was able to go to my supervisor for any questions.
The co-workers were always friendly and the lead techs were helpful.
The hardest part about the job was having enough workload in specific queues throughout the day.
