Seasonal Customer Service (Former Employee), Glendale, AZ – June 28, 2015
Pros: It was a fun job working with the customers and the other outfitters.
Cons: It required long hours of standing. Low pay.
I worked at the customer service desk. I dealt with guest on their returns, on line orders, layaways. I filled in for the cashiers as needed, the operators and stocking clerks. We were the frontline – more... to dissatisfied guests. We were given discretionary power to make decision on problems that arose in order to satisfy the customer.
Over a short period of time I had to learn 4-5 different systems within the organization. – less
Great Place to Work... If Pay was Just a Bit Better,
Gun Sales (Former Employee), Township of Tilden, PA – June 12, 2015
Pros: Luch area, employee discount, comfortable atmosphere to work in, good management, benefits.
I really enjoyed working at Cabelas...
The only thing that was a problem was the pay was too low. For such a large corporation and volume of business, the corporation itself could afford a better – more... payscale for people that devote their lives to Cabelas. Most people there seemed to like what they were doing, very much and be very professional, but their families suffered for Money while Cabelas had a Million Dollar Day! Aside from that a beautiful facility and aside from the pay a great company to work with, because its a down to earth environment. Would have stayed if the pay were comensurate with ability and job. Would be great for Part Time Job.. Management were very good. – less
Arby's was my first job and to be able to work in food service gave me a new found respect for people within the service industry. You learn a lot while working in the drive thru serving customers. It – more... was a great time working there, everyone got along with managers and coworkers alike. It was a hard job, though. 40 hours a week and sometimes working alone made completing all the closing tasks difficult. The most enjoyable part was the knowledge I gained while working there. The experience of working with the public and learning various skills related to customer service have helped immensely since departing there. – less
Manager (Former Employee), Post Falls, ID – June 4, 2015
You just have to see for yourself. you will find they have no respect for you or your time, clearly poor leadership here. They will have you show up to work ready to go and tell you to leave because the business is slow and they cant afford the payroll
Outfitter, knowledge in all aspects. (Current Employee), Kansas City, Kansas at the Legends – May 29, 2015
Pros: Generous discounts
Cons: Inexperienced supervisors and managers, leading to low employee morale and poor customer service.
I do love working here, as it fits in with my interests (the outdoors). But although I sincerely like the local management and other employees, it seems upper level management is indifferent and show no – more... loyalty to trusted employees. At times (like now) they even seem to be trying to put themselves out of business. When I first started, there was virtually no competition in the Knasas City area, Cabelas was the place to go. But now they have many other stores in direct competition, i.e., Bass Pro Shops, Academy Sports, and now Scheel's opening soon. Even without more and more competition, they are losing much more in sales profits than they are gaining in staffing cuts because customers are leaving the store upset as they can find no one to assist them. Even though they do work with me as much as possible, I feel after six and one half years of quality work performance and loyalty I deserve a more stable work schedule. I want more security to be assured of my maximum number of hours per week. – less
Stocker (Current Employee), Gonzales, LA – May 28, 2015
Pros: everone no what they duties are stock and clean
Cons: short breaks
A typical day at work would be putting away a truck , taking three breaks . The most enjoyable part of the day to me is when everyone that's there at 10:00thats the people you will be working with for the night the hardest part is when you get back of your lunch break some people sleep an has to wake up
salesman/instructor (Former Employee), Rogers, AR – May 26, 2015
Pros: working with customers
Cons: change to part time and hiring management with no knowledge of products
management had no knowledge of products.cut employees to part time. treating store like its a wal-mart. hired people with no knowledge of firearms, ammo and firearm safety.enjoyed helping customers choose firearms, ammo and teaching personal protection
Productive workplace environment with great people.
Backend outfitter (Current Employee), Rogers, MN – May 16, 2015
Pros: discount on great gear
Cons: transition of ownership
Days either begin with the unloading of a truck or backstocking product in the warehouse. Later in the day, product will be picked and brought to customers as needed. Forklift and picker operation are – more... needed throughout the day as well. My co-workers and I quickly became a solid team and went through our daily tasks with ease. This was due to great leadership and management. The hardest and most tedious part of the day was the unloading of trucks but also when they were completed it was a good feeling of accomplishment. – less
warehouse employee (Former Employee), Lehi, UT – May 15, 2015
Was a great job, worked in the warehouse, drove the forklift, stocked shelves, and also ran inventory out to customers when the product was not found on the floor. Great environment, that is the hobby that I love, anything outdoors.
