Promoting an Optimal Education Environment for our Students every day
Teacher of the Handicapped (Current Employee) –  Camden, NJJanuary 3, 2014
Currently, I work in a Self-Contained environment for grades 6, 7 & 8 with Students who require Special Services. Special Services Department is very involved and work collaboratively with me to insure all students receive appropriate resources. Due to certain circumstances my classroom dynamics change quickly and many times without prior notice; I've learned to always be prepared for changes and maintain an optimal learning environment for all students. Also, I meet/converse with parents/guardians on a regular basis to keep them updated on their child's progress.
Pros
Excellent Colleagues, Collaborative Teamwork, students
Cons
Camden is closing an additional 7 schools this year.

Would not recommend! Charter school that fudges stats to improve "reputation"
Teacher (Former Employee) –  Teacher- Middle SchoolDecember 18, 2013
Unless your a teacher that isn't set on keeping the bar high for these kids to achieve what they need to succeed and just pass them along, or don't want to hold the students ACCOUNTABLE for their actions or in-actions...then I would avoid this place.

School District of Philadelphia
Math Leader (Current Employee) –  Camden, NJNovember 2, 2013
Overall, the School District of Philadelphia is an environment with great needs, but minimal capacity to accomplish the challenges faced daily. Innovative educators will strive in this environment, but be aware of systemic structures, that may impede your growth as a professional.
Pros
Challenging, can have a great impact on students
Cons
Great deal of staff movement within schools
