Camp Counselor (Seasonal), Pittsfield, MA - August 31, 2016
Camp Winadu is a beautiful camp situated in the heart of the Berkshire mountains beside the breathtaking Onota Lake. It provides a summer of incredible opportunities for boys to enhance their skills over a wide variety of sports and to build lifelong friendships. The rate of returners amongst the campers is very high as they feel they belong to a loving family within a safe community. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the staff. Camp Winadu's main weakness is that the staff feel as though they are simply small and insignificant cogs in a vast money making machine. The directors do not communicate or appear to care about the staff and make no effort to get to know them. The combination of this with a 1am curfew on all days and nights off, a mere 5 days off in 7 weeks of working 14 hour days (17 when 'On Duty') and the ridiculously low pay leads to a very small number of returning staff. Those who do return, do so for the kids and the friends they've made.
