Trying to strive for the best

Campus Apartments is essentially a good company however does not provide its employees with necessary training to be successful. They are trying to strive to be a good Student Housing company but they do not consider their people to be a strength. If they would invest in a standardized model for how all their properties should operate a lot of headaches would be saved.

As far as management, there is no true leadership. Their Property Managers are supposed to be their leaders but they do not provide adequate mentorship for individuals that are new to the company. The Regional Managers expect their staff to simply just know how to do things without taking the necessary time to train and develop the Property Managers.

They do pay well and offer great benefits that the company actually pays for.

Each morning we would have a very short meeting
Pick up grounds to enhance curb appeal
work on maintenance work orders for apartment tenants
maintenance included (but not limited to) plumbing, carpentry, drywalling, remodeling, painting, cleaning, customer interaction

Great Team To Work With

Working all the shift with customers. Tours, phone calls, and walk-ins were most of the daily activities. We would canvas the residents about upcoming events, and be present at multiple events to advertise the property. Maintenance requests and rent issues would also be a large portion of the day. Selling the apartments was number one but we would sell via email, phone, and face to face. The maintenance crew are the best group of people I could have asked for. They not only are friendly but they go above and beyond for the residents. I loved meeting new people everyday and being challenged with new obstacles everyday as well.

The Company as a whole needs to rethink their mission

The lack of customer service trickles down from the top levels of executives. The overal mission statement is never clearly defined, therefore leading to no mission at all.
The company as it is currently is on a path to destruction with no clear goals and a complete lack of appreciation for top performing lower levels of management.
Not only would I not go back to work for this company but I would recommend a new prospect to do the same. Look for a company with some foresight and determination.

Keystones are not paid hourly until they surpass a certain benchmark, and the compensation for leasing is not where it needs to be.
