Room Attendant (Current Employee) –  Auburn, ALDecember 20, 2016
Very messy and unprofessional. The worst place I ever worked. Messy from the gm all the way down to employees. They are very unprofessional they talk about the guest that stay there. Use unprofessional language in front of guest.

Love the job! Just always worried about getting enough hours and the management has changed a bunch, so things have been a little rocky lately. there has also been a lack of communication.

Front Desk Agent (Current Employee) –  San Marcos, TXDecember 17, 2016
Great job for a student, however, management is lacking and is never here to see any issues. Issues always look like it is the front desk fault, when really it is the lack of management

I can recommend this as a place to get a taste of the hotel/front desk agent experience. Love the Holiday Inn Chain. Loved working as the IHG Rewards Champion.

Management is a joke.
Night Auditor (Former Employee) –  Columbia, SCDecember 12, 2016
The guest were kind and the job was ok but the managers are the most unprofessional people I have ever worked for. They were extremely hateful, unknowledgable, spiteful, low class jokes. The place would do a lot better with new sufficient management. The managers know absolutely NOTHING about running a successful hotel. The only place the GM and AGM are running is the property into the ground. Terrible place to work!

Director of Sales (Current Employee) –  Fort Worth, TXDecember 8, 2016
Great place to work. Repeat guests, mostly related to the airline industry. Very relaxed and low key. 35 check ins daily so the pace is much slower than the average hotel. This is due to the hotel being an extended stay property.

Candlewood Suites is part of IHG and this hotel was great place to work. Requires small staff to operate hotel. Rooms were very clean and affordable. We had good mix of clientele from sporting events to conventions. Great location and in safe area.

Front Office Receptionist (Former Employee) –  Olathe, KSDecember 3, 2016
Employee for 3 years, great job. The first GM was fantastic and then they hired a hitler type. If you are a parent and you have sick children you will be told that bussiness comes first. Management will even encourage you to bring your children along for overnight shifts and will disrespect you unless you are flirting with guests to keep them in the hotel.
Pros
Meet new people, experience
Cons
Totally not family oriented, over worked and under paid, degrading and disrespectful management

Work hard you will keep your job. However, they have no problem replacing you. If you are applying for front desk be prepared to do a lot of laundry.

Hotel Groundskeeper (Former Employee) –  Jacksonville, NCNovember 29, 2016
It's only a good job in between jobs or part time work. It has its ups and downs as any job. Not a place too consider for long term employment.
Pros
Easy work
Cons
No benefits, bad pay

Nice place to work
Front Desk Manager (Former Employee) –  Melbourne, FLNovember 17, 2016
Very fast paced hotel, typical day consists of answering all hotel phone calls, making and taking reservations, answering guest questions and helping them with their concerns. Candlewood is an extended stay hotel, so guest rooms are serviced one time a week, so front desk is responsible for guest linen exchanges, and provided any additional services the guest may need, we also help with laundry.
Pros
Nice employees
Cons
No breaks

Maintenance Technician (Former Employee) –  Kenedy, TXNovember 8, 2016
Candlewood Suites is a great place for employment. I enjoyed my short time working there, the owner and management team is very supportive and understanding. The Candlewood Suites management team rewards their employees by the hard work we put in, sometimes cake and ice cream or just pizza as a token of appreciation which motivates the staff to continue to go above and beyond.
Pros
promptly responds to request. great hours, flexible schedule
Cons
pay rate

Upbeat and hands on work place
Front Desk Associate (Current Employee) –  Bartlesville, OKNovember 4, 2016
a typical work day at candlewood could be fairly fast paced, on a daily basis you can learn a handful of new things, as far as new people and their living style peferences. the hotel business has extremely high turn over rates because employees don't quite realize until after they're in the position that hotels are open 24/7, 365 days a year and on holidays, so that makes extremely stressful whenever it's hard to find good dependable co-workers. That has to be the hardest part about working in the hotel business. Most enjoyable part is being the face of the company and starting someone's stay off the right way, being whenever they first walk into the door.
Pros
employee rates for personal stays.
Cons
turnover rates

General Manager (Former Employee) –  Gillette, WYOctober 30, 2016
They don't care about anything but money. They will fire you for nothing and then contest unemployment insurance untill the end. They are snakes and I would rather work at McDonalds then at Candlewood SUITES Gillette which is operated by Timberline Hospitalities out of Casper.
