Shouldn't be considered a Fast Food resturaunt
Cashier (Former Employee), Cullman, ALJune 18, 2014
I had my happy moments while with the company but I normally dreaded going to work to how I was treated by certain management. I would only consider going back if I could be a prep in morning or in the kitchen....

Good Place to work
General Manager (Former Employee), Snellville, GAJune 10, 2014
Pros: great customers
Cons: extremely high healthcare.
I have learned to deal with different personalities. Seafood is really a food that should be eaten as soon as its cooked so you will get plenty of drive-thru calls saying the food wasn't hot. But overall an good place to work.

General Manager (Former Employee), Tifton, GAJune 1, 2014
Pros: free food for management, great owner
Cons: can be overwhelmingly busy at times, bad attitudes can be irritating
I made sure everything and everyone was ready to go. It was a good family workplace. This was one of the busiest restaurants around so you had to be really good to keep up with it.

Being a cashier at Captain D's
Cashier (Current Employee), Riverdale, GAMay 24, 2014
Pros: the co-workers are outstanding and the team work is strong
Cons: management is improving at a slow pace and short/ no breaks with 5-10 hour shifts.
As a cashier, I have learned how to work quickly and my interpersonal skills have broadened over the two year span. My work day usually consists of cleaning, managing my cash register and working as a team to make sure the customers are happy and leaving on a positive note. My co-workers are like my family. Over time, we have created a bond and we all – more... work so much better together because of it. The management is improving but at a slower rate. Since the change in management about six months ago, business has picked up and the team as co-workers drastically improved. The management, however, is a little spotty and it makes it difficult for the kitchen to get the orders out in an efficient timing. My job is a constant changing job but it is easy for the most part and very enjoyable. My most enjoyable moments at my job is when you can make a customer have a good day just by being polite and getting their orders out. – less

Good Place to Work with Strong Leaders
Assistant Manager (Current Employee), Murray, KYMay 22, 2014
Pros: free meals, great work experience
Cons: hard to take breaks
The main focus at Captain D's is customer service. I had to implement this to everyone which could be difficult at times because I worked in the kitchen cooking and putting the orders out. Whether its making sure all the food is cooking, all the employees are going as fast as they can with correct techniques, keeping the kitchen and dining room clean, – more... or finding extra tasks during slow periods, there is always something to do and there is no time to slack off or be lazy.
The management is key to success of the business and all employees. If there was bad management in the store employees would not work as hard, things would not be getting done the best possible way and in turn, customers might not come back as often and the business would not make money.
The co-workers can be a huge impact on whether or not you enjoy what you are doing. Part of being in management is making sure employees are getting along and doing their individual jobs to make it easier on the next person. At first I thought employees were either good or bad at their job, but with experience I realized even the not so great employees can be good enough if they are taught proper behaviors. One of the hardest things about my job is figuring out how to manage every single employee because almost everyone has to be managed differently. It is important to let everyone know on an individual basis what is expected of them.
I especially enjoy training new people because I can teach them what's expected of them and implement a lot of the things I have learned from Captain D's. I love watching people get better at their jobs and pushing them so they can try and be the best. – less

Guest Specialist (Current Employee), Zanesville, OHMay 22, 2014
Pros: 50% off days you work
Cons: healthcare
A typical day at work would consist of taking orders, wiping tables, providing consumer services, getting drinks, handling the public, and taking food to consumers. I learned to handle the public ,problem solving , and how to use my time wisely between taking orders, giving orders, and cleaning your dinning room. The Management wasn't bad but we are – more... low staffed. My co-workers worked with me like a team. The hardest Part of the job when we get busy and be low staffed. The enjoyable part of the job was the regular costumers that come and like to talk to you. – less

It was laid back family owned restaurant
Waitress, Cashier (Former Employee), West Plains, MOMay 2, 2014
Pros: free lunches at a $7 limit
Cons: we only had 15 min. breaks on nights but days you had an hour
Captain d's did things different than i had done before they were more laid back but it was family ways i had 3 main bosses each had there way of you doing something. it made it interesting at times. My all around favorite thing about this job was my customers they absolutely wonderful people at least most. I had about 10 - 15 regulars that i could – more... just listen to forever they were like family to me we became so close after 3 years of talking 1-3 days a week some i would have there order already rang up and drink waiting on them before got in the door. Now sometimes they would change it up on me and i was thrown off a little. :) Now the hardest part was always closing time there was a list 30 odd and ends of things to clean me and another girl would split it in half. Then once the doors were locked we would begin on the floor their approxiatimently 8 and 12 booths on each side and tables the end each had to be pushed and swept and mopped under every night. – less

Fun/boring you have to make it the best you can
Guest Specialist (Current Employee), Zanesville, OHMay 1, 2014
Pros: 50 percent off the days you work. 30 minute breaks
Cons: healthcare
A typical day at work is slow in the evenings you get to clean a lot. Your not only a team but a family. I enjoyed going to work. its a great place for a teenager to have there first job. I enjoyed my coworkers. the hardest part of the job is having to deal with the consumers because a lot of them are regulars or common consumers so you see them often. – more... The most enjoyable part of the job is on Sundays when all your regulars come into eat. If you have a good personality they'll love you. Sometimes captains ds runs short handed but its only because they don't get busy a lot. – less

Customer Service Representative (Current Employee), Sandersville, GAApril 28, 2014
A typical work day at Captain D's is very enjoyable, relaxed and sometime very busy! I like a busy work day because I like to stay active at work. I learn that working as a team is always better then working alone. I enjoyed working with my co-workers, they made me feel welcome the very first time I walk through the door, and they are easy to get along – more... with. There wasn't nothing hard about working at Captain D's its a very easy job. The most enjoyable part of the job is making the customer happy. – less

Cook/Dishwasher (Former Employee), Jacksonville, FLApril 7, 2014
Pros: got to take some food home at the end of the night
Cons: not alot of hours, more like a seasonal job
Cooking, cleaning, and preparing food for the next day. I learned how to push food out the window very quickly, Drive thru times were low and stayed low throughout the entire shift. Hardest part of the job was having to cook fish while the lobby is full and drive thru was wrapped around the building
