This job is just that, a job. While most people will be happy with that you'll find that most co-workers feel under appreciated. Leads focus on the negative work rather than the positive work done. You can find help through nice co-workers but you'll see many come and go as the company is built on a revolving door of employees.
It seemed that the company has a hard time keeping employees as raises and promotions are non-existent. Working with the clientele is nice however drama does happen almost on a daily basis. Be it an abnormal drug screen, a DOT with glucose or HBP, or a simple thing like company filing out paperwork wrong. Saturdays the company is severely understaffed and is a grind.
While I did enjoy the first half of my stay here the lack of appreciation makes you wanting more. The owners are great, yet upper management gives the runaround. This is especially true since workers are often thrusted into work, out of town or on varying uncomfortable shifts. If you do a good job here management will punish you with more tasks and no raise. Yet those who do the basics get rewarded with less work and weekends off.
Shouldn't it be the other way around? To be happy here, play dumb. It is far too often the intelligent people get taken advantage of here. During my time here reviews had not come for anyone for almost 3 years. I never received a review for my work, nor raise and was employed at the facility for a year and a half.
The facility is in the wrong part of downtown long beach. Expect to park on the street with trash and homeless people with a shelter across the street. Can be scary at night especially for women traveling to their vehicles.
All in all a great place to get the required experience and get a 5 dollar raise elsewhere. Just give it a year.
