Senior Open Software Developer, Baltimore, MD - December 10, 2012
I am a seasoned professional developer and I was hired to lead a new development team. This was a classic bait and switch tactic as they immediately tried to crosstrain me on their 4 million lines of legacy, non-object-oriented, monolithic codebase. What followed was every dev's worst nightmare project with scope creep (you mean we can't just create a custom scheduling system overnight?) and generally terrible software engineering. This company really needs a CTO who understands software to lead their engineering efforts. Management is poor with managers who assume they understand far more than they actually do about development.
