Maintenance Mechanic (Current Employee) –  Millersville, OHSeptember 9, 2015
Started out as laborer and worked my to Garage Mech/Maiternance. Fellow employees and management a good group guys to work with. Hardest part of the job was cleaning out the duct work which consisted of coating built up on the inside from 1" thick to 2' thick. They did provide good meals and showed us their appreciation on jobs well done.
Pros
take break when needed
Cons
swing shifts

Production Shift Team Leader (Current Employee) –  Bettsville, OHJuly 19, 2015
It's a nice place to work that's very productive and hands on. A great place to learn and grow. The management team is very fair and maintains their "open door" policy very well.

High expectations of continuous improvment
Director of Sales, North America (Former Employee) –  Pittsburgh, PAJune 23, 2015
Very fast paced and high intensity work place.

Became much more adept at managing multiple projects to meet very aggressive strategic plans.

Management was fact driven and highly focused on daily detailed analysis of operational status, customer service, and contract management.

Co-workers were highly engaging when possible, workloads sometimes made it difficult to have as much interface that was sometimes needed.

Managing the day to day issues that arose with the producing plants as operational issues would force alternate supply planning solutions on a daily basis.

The fast pace and the camaraderie of the sales and customer service group.
Pros
Market leader, very customer focused.
Cons
Lean staff created long hours to make sure customer service was not compromised.

Not what I expected
Maintenance Mechanic (Current Employee) –  Maysville, KYApril 5, 2015
Everything is quick and half way fixed they don't want to fix anything the correct way. And this company doesn't care what you do for them how much money you save them. Supervision only cares about themselves they don't take care of any workers and then wonder why moral is low. Management cut hours down to 32 while not cutting theirs or taking a pay cut like the rest of us. The job is not as stable as I thought.
Pros
Fair pay, good benefits, close to home
Cons
everyone is related, schedule rotates, cut your hours

Could be potentially a good place to work
Administrative Assistant II/Wellness Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Strasburg, VAApril 2, 2015
Management was too interested in personal advancement, and treated workers with disrespect. It could have been a nice place to work, but the underlying feeling of no job security and whether or not you made the boss happy each day in order to keep your job was very difficult. Otherwise, the work was okay.
Pros
Great pay and benefits
Cons
Dirty environment, too many managers with different opinions

Wonderful Place to Work!
Corporate Management (Current Employee) –  PittsburghMay 3, 2013
Carmeuse is a great place to work with people that really care about what they do and also each other. I came in with little experience and with hard work and dedication and I was able to grow with the company. I have had wonderful opportunities and experiences that I have never had with past companies. The most enjoyable part of my job is working with people that care and are not quick to judge and blame. My job is challenging and I have a list of things that need to get done that seems impossible, but with the support of our management team, we do get things accomplished. If you are a hard worker who can think creatively, you will be presented with a bounty of unique experiences and opportunities at Carmeuse!
Pros
people, opportunities
Cons
limited resources

not a great company!
electrician (Former Employee) –  strasburg, vaMay 2, 2013
The company does pay well, doesn't have the greatest benefit package but not the worst. The company lacks severely in treatment of employees, Probably the worst job I've ever had in that aspect! The place will fire/layoff you in a heartbeat or at least threaten you daily. Co-workers aren't terrible but the atmosphere within the company creates a backstabbing/ brown nosing of sort within the people. Basically, if you are satisfied working for a place like this, it doesn't take much to please you. This is more of a place to get some experience and get out.
Pros
overtime, good pay
Cons
unorganized, high turnover, poor treatment of employees

Great organization w/ a solid future! Best company I have worked for to date!
Current Employee (Current Employee) –  MichiganApril 25, 2013
Carmeuse is a family owned and operated organization who recently celebrated over 150 years of success! The Company is very focused on the future and building a staff of highly skilled employees required for continued success and growth.

Safety truly is their first priority; this concept is driven from the top down and reinforced with aggressive initiatives, goals, etc.

I am impressed with the amount of training that is provided within the organization. The sky's the limit and the only thing holding employees back is themselves.

I also appreciate the level of support that is provided beginning at the Exceutive level all the way down to the site management teams.

Overall, very good company and a great place to work!

Great place to work, excellent support from all levels of management
Manager (Current Employee) –  AlabamaMarch 26, 2013
With this company there are great opportunities to get involved in different parts of the business. They focus efforts on employee development and advancement. The compensation and benefits are very competitive. Being a private/family-owned company, the core values of safety, environmental, respect, and being the best are a priority that they live by.
