An "OK" place to work
Product Manager (Former Employee), Indianapolis, INJuly 20, 2014
Generally, not a bad place to work. As can be expected these days, management expects 'more with less.' There is a lot of pressure to move the huge boat forward, but not enough resources to do it effectively.
Some folks have been there 40 years, and some leave after a few months.

Good people at the plant level. Upper management not always on top of their game.
Engineer (Former Employee), Tyler, TXJuly 11, 2014
Pros: good pay with decent bennifits
Cons: americans losing jobs to foreign trade
Carrier has a long standing history as being a good place to work, with many people in the shop working past 40 years with the company. That was in the past. Now it is all about the stock holders and making the bucks, even when it means moving everything to Mexico and saving a bunch of Pasos in the process.

Data Entry Specialist (Former Employee), Syracuse, NYMay 8, 2014
The culture was nice. But it was a contract position with no security. The pay was very minimal for the work they wanted done. But I was not micromanaged and was left to problem solve on my own.

Productive and fun place to work with an excellent cafeteria
Coil Assembler (Former Employee), Tyler, TXApril 22, 2014
Pros: benefits package was good and liked the work that i did.
Cons: move to mexico and now no job security.
My typical day at Carrier was first speaking to everyone in the coil shop, then getting a cup of coffee which was made by an employee (a line leader) who was there thirty minutes early. Startup the machinery, gathers headers, fill up the returns binds, check computer to see what is needed to run. Work with my partner to start running coils thru the – more... fire, talk about different things while working. The hardest part of my job was making sure that no coil were stuck the fire and made sure that the coils were braze good after coming out of the fire. The most enjoyable part of my job was making sure that all my work was done accurately and that production quotas were met and enjoying the fellowship with coworkers. – less

Assembler/Material Handler (Former Employee), Tyler, TXMarch 5, 2014
Pros: benefits/wages/location
Cons: plant closure
I learned that when people work together as a team the performance and quality is better.Getting along with other co-workers is essential ,understanding that no two people think the same way.The hardest part of the job was when co-workers did not get along with one another.

a lot of good people worked there befor they left the US & closed the plant
Audit Inspector (Former Employee), Tyler, TXMarch 5, 2014
For the most part I enjoyed working there & the people I worked with. In the 37 years at Carrier & I have worked with most all the classifications & labor groups in the plant. I knew the units from start to shipment, I went from labor grade 9 to 6 in 3 years, later to the crew leader a 5, in 1999 up to a 4 & as an ACE Pilot & in 2008 an
Audit Inspector.
The – more... hardest part was seeing UTC closed the plant & move our product out of the US putting about 1200 good workers out of work just to cut labor cost & do away with the union. – less
