Productive and fun workplace with lego table to occupy the kids!
Sales Associate, Cashier (Current Employee), Milford, CT – May 6, 2013
Pros: enthusiastic company to work for, loyal customer base, opportunity for advancement
Cons: short breaks, weekend hours required, lots of reading to do at the beginning of the week, lots to read during training.
What it really boils down to is that this is a retail job. It has its differences, but overall, employees do the same things here as any other retail position. It's all about customer service- greeting, assisting, following up. Then there's some time answering the phone, processing shipment, folding clothes and straightening/cleaning up after customers. – more... If you have a great team of management and fellow employees, then there's definitely motivation to work and succeed and enjoy working. Everyone I work with is enthusiastic and friendly. We always have smiles ready. There are times when dealing with customers is tough, but it's also really rewarding to help the first-time parents pick out the perfect take-home-from-the-hospital outfit, etc. I recommend a job with Carter's to anyone that likes kids and families, interacting with all different types of people, and someone that with hard work, could move up. – less

Great place to work
Assistant Manager (Current Employee), Staten Island, NY – January 10, 2013
My typical day at work is 8 hr shifts 5 days a week. When I get to work I do paper work from previous day, I do open checklist which consist of opening registers counting money and paper work. When we open the main focus is customer service and task are second. My management team is amazing we all work together so we can get our jobs done. The most – more... enjoyable part of my day is making the customers happy. – less

Wonderful Company with great opportunities
Shift/Merchandising Supervisor (Former Employee), Smithfield, NC – November 27, 2012
Pros: customer sales and service, face to face workplace
Cons: distance from home
Typica work day was to come in prepared to keep sales floor organized and free flowing. Keeping the clothing and accessories in the proper places.
I learned to merchandise children's clothing.
Management was very difficult to work with, because they were not on the same page all the time, which made it very confusing to do my job.
Hardest part was not – more... being heard by management of the workplace issues and problems, that could've been changed.
Most enjoyable part was merchandising the product and seeing the customers enjoy their shopping experience is a clean and organized store. – less

A Fun, fast paced enviroment!
Buyer (Current Employee), Shelton, CT – November 11, 2012
Pros: good benefits, being involved in mutli aspects of the business
Cons: short breaks, work/life balance
Your day could be going from discussing markdowns to choosing marketing shots for a in-home mailer.

Learned to multi-task, work with your team and with other deparments, alot about the children's industry and the other multi-channel branches Carter's is involved in.

Management is a strong aspect of Carter's, always on top of their game.

Co-workers – more... are really great people, we are like a family!

Not a good work life balance.

Enjoying working with children's clothes, things can never be too serious when we're talking about onsies! – less

overall an "ok" company to work for
Assistant Manager (Current Employee), Stamford, CT – October 14, 2012
Pros: great customer base. prides itself on brand quality and customer service
Cons: operations of the company from the corporate level do not run smoothly
Pros of this company are the customers. They are awesome. No one comes into a baby store unhappy. I like that Carter's puts their customer and the quality of the clothing at the top of their priority list. This company has also seen substantial growth since it began opening retail locations.

Cons are associated with the amount of growth that has occurred – more... in such a short amount of time. Operations do not run smoothly. Communication from the corporate level is not streamlined. Relevent communication is not given consistantly in a manner that allows for effective planning. – less
