Guide consumers, Albany, NY - July 16, 2013
Catholic Charities is an outstanding organization in which I learn from my supervisors and the consumers I work with. My supervisor is very supportive and very easy to communicate with. I learned that every one person has potential and people with disabilities can work through any obstacles as long as we are patient and supportive. The biggest and most important lesson I have learned is how to listen and have empathy with people. The hardest part of the job is when there is self esteem issues involved because it is hard to motivate someone that is having a bad day. The most enjoyable part of the job is when I build a connection with a consumer and when they do well on a household task, in school, or a sporting activity.
