Human Resources is the job I love to do, I like to give service to the employees. A day in HR is different one from the other. You go to work thinking that you are going to accomplished A, B, C but your day is full of surprises such as employee relations, unexpected emergencies and/or a nice birthday celebration.

An incredible learning experience

Cubicles but multitude of services under one roof. No two days exactly alike. I learned how to be an MSC a Service Broker , A CQL interviewer, a Front door trainer but mostly how to embrace other's professional differences. The upper management was incredible I wish I could have stayed with agency once grant ended but there was no place for me . The hardest part of my job was saying good bye to my clients. The most enjoyable part was the lasting connections made.

Budget cuts that closed many departments at once.

The BAD outweights the good in this company

The work itself is very rewarding if you like working with people and reuniting families. But unfortunately upper management DO NOT appreciate the work done by case planners. There are some really amazing supervisors that would go the extra mile to help their employees while there are others that would do the absolute opposite.
There are no raises or bonuses given to the employees, they do not pay overtime. When you are hire you are told that you would be able to take time off when you accumulate comp time but due to the volume of work you can never do so.
There's such a high turn over of employees that all workers are over the LEGAL amount of cases.

I would NOT recommend anyone to work for this place. It's not worth your physical or mental health, peace of mind or even your time... this place will consume you.
Pros
Some workers truly enjoy working with families and help you grow as a social worker.
Cons
Long unappreciated hours. Not enough pay. Tons of people with issues of superiority

A lot of racism and bigotry. Condescending higher ups. Severely stupid management, terrible staffing problems that will cause you to not leave on time, investigations and scandals like you wouldnt believe. I highly recommend not working for this company. It has however been recently unionized but the union is terrible with handling concerns and that can leave you in very awkwardly exposed compromising positions. Work for IGHL, AHRC, FREE or any other company stay away from Catholic Guardian Services.

The job everall is great, working with the kids is fun and rewarding, it is a house environment so you pretty much do what you do at home while babysitting. theres games to play and stuff. THE BAD PART: MANAGEMENT SUCKS!!! they will pretend like you are a priority to them and follow up by throwing you under a bus. The environment is heavily unprofessional there is a lot of favoritism and be prepared for everyone to know all of your personal business because the managers gossip.

CGS is an awesome company to work for; the time off is impeccable and worthy. They are extremely flexible as long as you perform and work hard to keep their employees. There is a lot of room for advancement and many retire from this agency after many years.
