Case Plannner (Former Employee) – Bronx, NY – June 22, 2017
The work itself is very rewarding if you like working with people and reuniting families. But unfortunately upper management DO NOT appreciate the work done by case planners. There are some really amazing supervisors that would go the extra mile to help their employees while there are others that would do the absolute opposite. There are no raises or bonuses given to the employees, they do not pay overtime. When you are hire you are told that you would be able to take time off when you accumulate comp time but due to the volume of work you can never do so. There's such a high turn over of employees that all workers are over the LEGAL amount of cases.
I would NOT recommend anyone to work for this place. It's not worth your physical or mental health, peace of mind or even your time... this place will consume you.
Some workers truly enjoy working with families and help you grow as a social worker.
Long unappreciated hours. Not enough pay. Tons of people with issues of superiority
RN Assistant/Shift Supervisor (Current Employee) – Hampton Bays, NY – April 21, 2017
A lot of racism and bigotry. Condescending higher ups. Severely stupid management, terrible staffing problems that will cause you to not leave on time, investigations and scandals like you wouldnt believe. I highly recommend not working for this company. It has however been recently unionized but the union is terrible with handling concerns and that can leave you in very awkwardly exposed compromising positions. Work for IGHL, AHRC, FREE or any other company stay away from Catholic Guardian Services.
Everything. Pay sucks, management sucks, union sucks
Youth Care Worker (Current Employee) – Bronx, NY – April 19, 2017
The job everall is great, working with the kids is fun and rewarding, it is a house environment so you pretty much do what you do at home while babysitting. theres games to play and stuff. THE BAD PART: MANAGEMENT SUCKS!!! they will pretend like you are a priority to them and follow up by throwing you under a bus. The environment is heavily unprofessional there is a lot of favoritism and be prepared for everyone to know all of your personal business because the managers gossip.
relaxed environment, working with kids, rewarding job
Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) – Bronx, NY – April 5, 2017
Day to day is different, you must think logically and be informative to all parties involved. My team is mature, professional and responsible. Its rewarding to work with the population that I services. The hardest part of the job is to deal with management with the separation of power but in the end I always leave with knowledge of the company and understanding that we all are different
Social Work Supervisor (Current Employee) – Bronx, NY – March 10, 2017
It is a good organization with plenty of holidays and good benefits. A typical day of work can be planned however there are sometimes fires that need to be quenched immediately which can happen at anytime of the day.
Very busy and relaxed place to work. The days are long but rewarding. Must have a want to help people
Case Planner/Caseworker (Former Employee) – Bronx, NY – March 2, 2017
Learned the importance of working together as a team. The job teaches you time management skills. The company is flexible with your schedule but can still be hectic and demanding for someone with a family. The job gives you the opportunity to help people in need.
No overtime pay, No raises, No bonus, no support, high turnover
Lead Clinician- UC Program (Current Employee) – Bronx, NY – January 5, 2017
CGS is an awesome company to work for; the time off is impeccable and worthy. They are extremely flexible as long as you perform and work hard to keep their employees. There is a lot of room for advancement and many retire from this agency after many years.
case planner (Former Employee) – New York, NY – December 20, 2016
Management does not work well with their staff. They are unsupportive and demeaning to their co-workers. The site director and executive director of foster care are the rudest most unprofessional people I have ever come across in a field where it is hoped that people are caring and professional.
the families are willing to accept help in the re-unification of their families.
administration only cares about money and not people
Social Worker/ Family Foster Care (Former Employee) – Bronx, NY – November 3, 2016
So this company is like the worst ever. Rather work retail to be honest. So I got the interview and the next month I got started. They make you go to a 2 week training ( 9 days) . The training is common sense for the most part and it is no training that relates to what you will be doing in terms of (software, how to write notes, case load) Nothing whatsoever. They do have a day where you go to your location and you follow someone to see how the work is done which was somewhat helpful. The training is all day (9-5) where everyone is bored by 1 (Honestly). There are no raises. So whatever salary you agree to, it's stuck with you for literally the next 5-10 years. No bonuses.
On the job:
After the training I sat there for like 3 days without any logon information. When I finally got it, They threw case loads at me and starting demanding paperwork that we had no training on. (9 days for nothing). The co-workers usually help you but it is magically expected that you know how to do this work. 9-5 is not 9-5 with this place. You have to sometimes stay until 6 or even 7. No overtime, just BS comp time. They will tell you that you have to see someone at 4:45 right before you leave and screw your day. Better pray they don't tell you this on a Friday. Find another agency please please please. I understand the passion for children but not in this environment.
