Productive and fast paced work environment.
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Cleburne, TX – April 10, 2013
Pros: friendly co-workers, great customers, upbeat atmosphere
Cons: often under employed, lack of hours for the entire store, sometimes unorganized when it came to the schedual
A typical day at work included helping out each customer, running the register while monitoring fitting rooms and the neatness of the store, answering the phone when it rang, and cleaning the store each night at closing. Most co-workers were very friendly and helpful always willing to teach you something new or help you out when you were not sure. It – more... was easy to learn the ropes of putting out merchandise, running the register, and keeping the customers well informed and aided. The hardest part of the job was having to run the entire store during a rush with only two people working. The most enjoyable part of the job however was working with friendly co-workers and being able to help out each customer. – less

Professional and customer oriented business
Assistant Manager (Former Employee), Seaford, DE – February 23, 2013
Pros: flexible scheduling
Cons: district mgr visits monthly. she is very strict and sales driven.
Cato is a good company to work for. They are understanding and flexible with scheduling. This company is ideal for students while attending college. If offered employment, candidates should be aware of the highly demanding expectations of the job and the minimal rate of pay. However, the company has been around for many years so job security would be – more... definite. – less

Pros: 20% discount
Cons: health care and hours
A typical day at work consist of managing the register, helping customers, organizing merchandice, and selling the IOW. I have learned how to push credit apps. My management and co-workers are amazing. Our store has great communication and team work. The hardest part of my job is trying to help a customer with clothes but they want you opinion but don't – more... want your opinion. My most enjoyable part of the job is when you helped someone find a new outfit and you can tell they feel confident. – less

Cato was an awesome job that i enjoyed coming to work and working at and having such a good time with my customers
Sales Associate & Assistant Manager (Former Employee), San Antonio,Tx on Walzem – January 4, 2013
Pros: sometimes i would get 30min-1hr. lunch no free lunch
Cons: cato didnt provide any health care, vision, or dental
typical day at work would be opening the store getting cash register ready. make sure store is recovered and everything is neat and clean before opening to the public.
i have learned how to work around the situation of an unhappy customer. first thing first hear them out and understand what will ease away the upset/anger. talk to them calmly and let – more... them know our store rules and if there's anyway to help them i would be glad to do so.
shipment, and restocking, inventory cash handling, sales and bring back customers to our store with a great attitude is a big part of management.
i got along with all of my co-workers we all knew our part of our job. we all helped each other out, it was a great team.
The hardest part of the job was closing time. on the weekends only, all the clothes that customers used in fitting rooms was a lot.I had to put clothes back in place nice and neat with just an hour of closing time. of the store also counting down register and getting it ready for night deposit all with an 1 hour also because we were short staff for a while.
The most enjoyable part of my job was walking in through the Cato double Doors knowing I'm going to make my customers happy and especially when It's me there looking for. to help them with an outfit they can't seem to put one together. and being greeted by my co-workers knowing i was coming to work and was going to have a good day. – less

Fun Place to work
2nd Assistant Manager (Former Employee), Plymouth, IN – January 1, 2013
Pros: working with the customers
Cons: not being trained properly
A typical day at work was opening and closing store helping every customer as soon as the walked in the door, counting drawers. taking down old clothing and putting up new. i learned alot about visuals and what the new fashion was. Most of my co workers were fun to work with. Hardest part of the job was no knowing all that i needed to know to do my – more... job correctly. Working with the customers, putting up the new clothes unloading truck and seeing the new thing and just overall the job was great. – less

Cons: helping people you dont know find an outfit that is their style
I would go into work and make sure the shelfs looke nice and neat.I would help customers find things and then ring them out.Management was very professinal and very capable. My co-workers all had great taste in clothing. The hardest part of the job was not spending my whole pay check on the clothing in the store. The easiest part was coming into work – more... every day because i enjoyed it so much. – less
