Pros: wonderful people to work with
Cons: life threatening situations
We as officers were a family closely knit together in unity. I learned conflict resolution and time management skills there. I had some of the best coworkers in the industry we were professional. the hardest part of the job was dealing with the inmates and their controversy.the most enjoyable part of the job was he pride of service

CORRECTIONAL OFFICER (Former Employee), Tutwiler, MSNovember 15, 2012
When dealing with inmates there is never a bored day. The inmates keep you on your feet. You have to learn to get along with your co-workers because they have to watch your back.

Excellent Work Opportunity
Correctional Officer (Former Employee), Burlington, COOctober 25, 2012
Pros: great pay. wonderful supervisors
Work hours became long, 16 hour shifts without a break due to lack of staff on shift, but the job itself was amazing. I learned so much working at the prison and it was truly an amazing opportunity. My coworkers were very welcoming given I came from another state. The hardest part of the job I feel was working a week or two straight without a day off. – more... I completely enjoyed everything about my job! – less

Pros: job security
Cons: long hours and negativity
making sure the inmates are following odrc standards and making the public feel safe. The hardest part of the job is the long hours. Most enjoyable is seeing your co-workers and making sure we leave and go home safe daily
