Configuration Technician (Former Employee), Vernon Hills, ILJanuary 22, 2014
configuring computers, printers, iPods, Tablets etc.
I have exceled in my abilities to be able to install hardware and download software, and knowledge of troubleshooting. Overall management and my co-workers were great to work with. They were always kind and respectful. The hardest part of this job for me was If didn't know something my eagerness to – more... find out and I must say the most enjoyable part of the job was the job itself. I love working on or with computers since I was a young child. – less

A place to learn IT and sales
Sales Account Manager (Former Employee), Woodland, ILJanuary 21, 2014
A lot of cold calling is needed to get started and be successful. This can be incredibly difficult and stressful. However, the support staff were great and there was always opportunities to learn more about IT.

Great environment to learn and excel at sales while gaining an understanding of business operations and complex technologies
Account Manager (Former Employee), Voorhees NJJanuary 15, 2014
Pros: free lunches, relaxed environment
Cons: low initial salary
Being on the phone 2-4 hours a day:
- Cold calling prospective clients and demonstrating value proposition
- Gaining understanding of current clients business processes, operations, infrastructure and finances
- Discuss current and future projects with clients
- Conference calls with clients, specialists, engineers, and vendor partner reps

Coworkers – more... were mostly male, both young and old, but very nice and easy to get along with. Since we were all in sales, we would often consult each other for advice or information.

Hardest part of the job was ensuring that I was on top of all happenings and information of that day, getting organized for the next, coming up with a plan of action, and following through with it to work toward both long and short term goals. – less

CDW people who DON'T get it
Technical Temp Computer Technician (Former Employee), North Las Vegas, NVDecember 14, 2013
Pros: get experience
Cons: bad mangement, no job security and advancement
CDW is a great place to get experience but they'll quickly take advantage of you and make you work 12-14 hour days. They hire temps to permanent positions, but rarely do they make them permanent. I'll say there's 50%-60% temps working there, they usually say there is a 3 month probation period and promise to hire you permanently. They don't, they just – more... do layoffs so they don't have to hire you permanently and go on to hire other temps. The local management is very deceitful, they seem like nice people but don't be fooled, every few weeks they'll give you free lunches for all the hard work and hours you put in, but then they'll do layoffs, they won't even tell you, they just have the temp agency call you and informed you that your services aren't needed anymore. No explanation, just goodbye that's it your done! I understand there's deadlines to make but when you put in a lot of effort, hours and care you don't layoff those people. The work wasn't that hard, installing HDDs, RAM, expansion cards, imaging systems, and installing OS to the systems. They demand a high volume, which means there's no room for mistakes and training. I didn't have any issues with any of the co workers or management it's just the way they do business. – less

My Review
Logistics Analyst (Former Employee), Vernon Hills, ILOctober 2, 2013
Pros: growth advancement
Cons: communication was lacking
A typical day at work consisted of managing the freight audit. I learned how to become efficient with the vendors and customers. The management team was determined to empower us to grow within the company. The hardest part of my position was to ensure every billing was correct within our system. But most importantly your co-worker were great team players. – more... Great company to work for. – less

Great Exposure to Fortune 500 companies
Corporate Account Manager (Current Employee), Chicago, ILSeptember 23, 2013
Pros: great sales culture and exposure to leading manufactures
Cons: low base
A leader in its industry by far.
Great Sales culture and get to learn how an organizations works from top to bottom
Management varies from team to team but for the most part everyone is pretty easy to get along with.
The hardest part about the job is the low base and how after a certain point you become 100% commision.
The greatest thing about CDW is – more... being spoiled by Vendors. – less
