Shipping and Receiving Lead (Current Employee), Ontario, CAJune 8, 2015
Pros: Yearly events, free lunches, & rewards for hard working recognition
Cons: Schedule varies last minute
Celestica job positions are all working with electrical and general labor that I myself do not find it difficult. They do offer training and is a great job to start getting expirience, the management is improving moving foward.I would say the toughest obstacle would be last minute change of schedule do to lack of coordination or shortfall of costumer demand,Aside from that its a very positive and healthy work enviroment.

Pros: overtime
Cons: overtime
Great place to build a resume' and apply for other jobs that will pay more for the exact same duties. Management is very poor and most of the employees are looked at as mediocre, therefore, their work tactics ARE mediocre.

Customer Product Data Administrator (Current Employee), Portland, ORMay 16, 2015
Pros: Flexibility
Cons: High pressure, benefits, compensation, raises
A typical day is pretty crazy trying to keep up with customer expectations when they're constantly changing is a difficult feat indeed. Although it can be difficult to balance the workload I have learned how to keep priorities in order to effectively get my job done. Co-workers are all great everyone enjoys the relaxed atmosphere, but some times it can feel like the relaxed atmosphere is one of the only perks. Constantly hear people say so hard to leave this job not, because of pay, or other benefits. But because of the flexibility, and often lack of accountability. The hardest part is dealing with customer changes it is a lot of pressure to make sure no mistakes are made. Once a year Celestica has site wide tournaments for foosball, ping pong, pool everyone really enjoys it, and gets into the spirit of it all.

Pros: Appreciation for hard workers such as to enter a raffle for prize
Cons: no healthcare, short breaks
On a typical day of work at Celestica I would go to my work station, read the work sheet left from previous shift and finish testing product left on the pallet. Also preform duties such as training new employees on our step by step testing process.

This company was a very intense job but interesting at the same time. Management there is very inspiring always trying to motivate you to do better and advancing in life. I learned most of the things i know today in the electronic field thanks to the company. The best part about working there was that everyday was different and always ended up learning new things.

Poor Management, too crowded
Administrator (Former Employee), Fremont, CaliforniaOctober 29, 2014
Cons: way too many, no color printers or copiers management believes staff will over use and will not purchase these.
I worked there for a short period of time. Management at one site did not talk to another site and allowed for a ton of gossip amongst the multiple sites. It was like high school.
One site was so crowded that they had 3 people working per cubicle and having meetings in the cubicles, due to having no meeting rooms available because they being used as offices with multiple people in them.

Overall a horrible, unsafe, company will not spend the money needed for a safe working environment.

A contract manufacturing company with an emphasis on semiconductor equipment
Technician / Engineer (Current Employee), Portland, ORSeptember 18, 2014
Pros: sometimes flexible work schedule and good meals at holidays
Cons: last minute customer changes with not enough material on-hand to complete the request.
The company (Portland facility) is predominantly a contract manufacturer for the semiconductor industry. The equipment is created by mechanical assembly to create complex, electro-mechanical equipment.

So cables need to be routed through frames and panels installed using machine screws. Then assembled equipment gets functionally tested.

This position and facility have allowed me to further my mechanical assembly skills, knowledge of the functionality of the equipment, troubleshoot electrical panels, troubleshoot the electrical communication of the equipment and work with placement robots.

Some facility perks are they have a pool table and ping pong table in the cafeteria. They provide good food during the fall/winter holidays and have a summer picnic at a nearby park as well. Work-wise they seem to handle the sometimes chaotic semiconductor industry with grace.
