Position Description
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager is responsible for a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year end audits and support for budget and forecast activities. The Accounting Manager will have contact with outside bankers, accountants and attorneys and strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal are required.

Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close. Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information. Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure. Assist senior management in daily banking requirements. Support budget and forecasting activities. Collaborate with other department managers to support overall company goals and objectives. Respond to inquiries from management and other department managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests. Work with management to ensure a clean and timely year end audit. Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met. Assist in developing and implementing new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department. Support finance personnel and senior management for special projects.

BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting; CPA and related experience in an accounting firm and the biotechnology industry a plus. Strong interpersonal and service skills and the ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
