It is a very interesting place to work. It's very unconventional and the company prides itself on that. It is constantly evolving and changing structure.

Work hard, play some, but mainly work hard! Great experience for a young 20-something!
PROJECT MANAGER (Current Employee) –  Raleigh, NCJuly 21, 2014
Play hard, work til the work is done, and work some more! The people at CLP are fantastic! The best people... management is really great too. My only negative is the work/life balance. It is staggering the amount of work on everyone's plate. The hardest part of the job is being able to handle the amount coming at you from every angle, not to mention the turnover is high and revolving. The most enjoyable part is the work we create, the people that we work with, and getting to know everyone. Fantastic company overall!
Pros
free lunch friday, weekly fitness hour, free snacks, modern atmosphere
Cons
poor work/life balance

Don't do it.

Centerline has not made a graceful switch from small, video production company to a mid-size, digital agency. It is run by a team of people who have "been there forever," who do not necessarily have the knowledge/experience to run the type of agency they think they are.

Micro-management abounds. Senior-level management involved in things that should be out of their purview. Life/work balance expectations are a joke. They seem to think giving people fun (unnecessary) perks makes up for the way they do not respect people's time, effort and expertise. Face-time is a big deal and no matter how well you do your work, the people who are online 24/7 are rewarded just for being available - not for working more efficiently, doing a better job, or coming up w/ new ways to do things.

They are closed off to any constructive criticism or ideas for improvement. Rigid and inflexible to do anything different than how they've been doing it for years. And processes are written in stone, and are often unwieldy and unnecessary. Some important processes are left out completely since they weren't there from the beginning.

One large client dominates the entire agency. All projects tend to seem the same after a while, w/ a few exceptions. Not the place to try out your most creative material.

A small team of petty and sycophantic people have management's ear, and help perpetuate the micro-managed culture. This is mostly in the accounts team, where the entry-level Project Coordinators get the brunt of it (but it is felt throughout the agency).

Centerline likes to make think they are lucky to work
more... there despite all these issues. They manage people w/ fear (of being laid off). This fear is very real since this company is known for laying people off within weeks of hire for no reason other than "it wasn't a good fit." No reviews, chances for improvement.

It is a small-time agency masquerading as a cool, hip, bigger agency. Having a modern office and perks does not make you a great agency. Treating employees with respect, coming up w/ new ideas/strategy/products (not just the same old/same old), changing and growing to accommodate a larger staff and being a leader in the digital realm - these things make a digital agency great.
