Under Staffed
Operations (Former Employee) –  Fort Worth, TXSeptember 17, 2017
They are very under staffed so people there work long hours and some of their overtime doesn't start till 55 hours just because they know that they will have you working more than 50 hours,

Good company to drive for
Truck Driver (Current Employee) –  Detroit, MISeptember 15, 2017
Central is an excellent company to drive for. The pay is very competitive, there are plenty of hours available to work, trucks are brand new, and the managers are supervisors are easy to get along with. Take the negative things you hear with a grain of salt. I definitely recommend working for CT.
Pros
Good pay, uniforms are paid for, good hours
Cons
Same cons as every other trucking company

Hard work is rewarded
Manager (Current Employee) –  TexasSeptember 12, 2017
This is the freight business it is what you would expect. The hours can be long, outdoor work environment. If you are dependable, loyal and hard working this company rewards you well. If you are lazy and just there to draw a paycheck then no you won't make it. Take the negative reviews here with a grain of salt, I have many tenured employees who enjoy working here.
Pros
Good pay, hard work gets recognized.
Cons
Long hours. Outdoor environment.

Expectations
Maintenance Manager (Former Employee) –  Ft. Worth, TXAugust 23, 2017
This is a very high paced work environment, in which you are expected to work long hours with decent pay. Most of the management is fair and decent. My typical day started at 6am and ended at 4:30 pm, however I never got to leave at that time and would end up being there until 6:30 pm. The shop is under staffed which makes everyone work harder.
Pros
Check always clears
Cons
Medical and Dental insurance

CLERK (Current Employee) –  Warren, MI 48089August 17, 2017
They do not appreciate their employees. The amount of work expected of you is not 40 hours worth of work. It is a good opening level job but not worth moving up in the company.

LTL Local City Driver (Former Employee) –  Lexington, KYJuly 28, 2017
The pay was cheap when I started out and hours were hectic with very little time to spend with family. Also equipment is really in bad shape, except now they got some new trucks in.

Forklift operator (Former Employee) –  St. Louis, MOJuly 11, 2017
Loved working here, loved using the forklift daily and absolutely loved the compensation.

The only downside to this employer was the job security. Without warning I was let go, this caused a major shift in my family's lifestyle...however we pushed through and eventually landed right side up.
Pros
compensation and work enviroment
Cons
job security was obsolete

Underhanded management practices
Load advisor (Former Employee) –  Detroit, MIJune 21, 2017
The worksite was hazardous and filthy. Not a day went by where management didn't make it known that everyone of the staff was expendable. Low employee moral. How do you expect people to work when management is constantly feeding negativity? Promises of promotions they never follow with. God forbid an injury or sickness because of the hazardous work conditions. Might as well search for another form of work. Equipment barely functioned properly. Then fired entire shifts and hired in more making less money .on the plus side my pay did raise quickly and the majority of the staff got along with each other.
Pros
Your pay will increase in a short amount of time.
Cons
No job security even if you are a decent worker. Management staff needs improvement

Improving company for sure
Driver (Current Employee) –  South Bend, INJune 19, 2017
Been with this company over 10 years and it's been good. South bend management team is fair and promote team environment. CT provides good wages for those who want to work. Bad reviews come from those that want to be paid for doing nothing. All new trucks with many terminal upgrades in last year. I am happy here and expect to stay a long time. CT always looking for ways to improve its operations to provide better service
Pros
Equipment and terminal upgrades
Cons
Nothing major to speak of

Truck Driver (Current Employee) –  Secaucus, NJJune 16, 2017
Not the best place for a experience driver to come to they expect to much from you everyday. Picking up pallets from a costumer is a year long thing. You cant plan your day cause disptch is going to send you more pickups right whe you think you going back to the terminal. After you get to the terminal 5 or 6 pm you have to unload your trailer. Worst benefits you can ever have. If you dont believe what i said stop one of the drivers and talk to them
Pros
Lots of nice peoples, saturday is optional
Cons
No persornal day, and you get the 2nd week of vacation on the 4th year of working for them

Mis-Communication
LTL Driver (Former Employee) –  Duncan, SCMay 16, 2017
Went to work as a driver to better understand the business. My plan was to go in as a driver to only better myself as a sales representative or manager. Had the education, experience, but wasn't willing to work for the price the other applicants accepted. The job paid $800.00 salary plus commission, and the managers job started at $50,000.00, but each person that accepted the jobs, went drastically lower or accepted the first offer. I was told to stick to the salary by upper management. Upper management doesn't communicate with lower management. Both times I was overlooked; my managers had no clue they had hired each one over me.
Pros
Easy
Cons
do not keep their word on advancement
