If you or a loved one has reached the Golden Age of retirement, there's a good chance Life Care Centers of America offers a service you can use. The company is a privately owned operator of more than 200 retirement and health care centers in 28 states across the US. Its offerings include retirement communities, assisted-living facilities, and nursing homes (and even some campuses that provide all three in a continuum of care). In addition, Life Care operates centers specifically for people with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia. Some of Life Care's specialized services include home health care, adult day care, hospice, and wound care. Founder Forrest Preston opened his first center in 1970.
The company expands its network by leasing facilities from companies like Health Care REIT; buying existing facilities, such as the 2009 purchase of a county-owned nursing home in Dayton, Tennessee; and through new facility construction. Some of Life Care's facilities are operated by affiliate Century Park Associates. – less
