Cerro's dealers can get you wired, but there's no need to call the cops. Cerro Wire & Cable manufactures electrical wire and cable for residential, commercial, and industrial building projects. Cerro's lineup specializes in copper and aluminum interior building wire, aluminum URD (underground residential distribution), and overhead conductor and submersible pump cable. Its products are sold under the Cerrowire and Circle Wire brands through a sales network to wholesale electrical distributors, as well as to consumer hardware centers. Operating as a subsidiary of the Marmon Group, Cerro is part of the Marmon family of wire and cable companies, including Owl, Aetna, Cable USA, and Rockbestos Surprenant.
Although the company has benefited from the financial and management underpinnings of the Marmon Group since its 1996 acquisition, Cerro has not dodged the economic pitfalls of 2008-08. In late 2008 the company laid off over 10% of the workforce at its Hartselle, Alabama-based headquarters and facility. The company operates three other manufacturing and distribution facilities in Carrolton, Georgia, Crothersville, Indiana, and Ogden, Utah. – less
