Productive, flexible and fun place to work. The hours were great.
Team Leader (Supervisor) / Group Leader (Former Employee), Columbus, GA – April 30, 2013
Pros: hours worked, and flexible lunch
Cons: when parts were not avaiable.
A typical day consist of making sure all employees are working in a safe environment. Set daily goals, ensure team were supplied with necessary tools to do their job and enforced the quality of their work. Attendened daily productivity meetings to make sure we were on target in order to meet weekly goals. The hardest part of the job were evaluations – more... because the scale we used. The most enjoyable part of my job was the interaction I presented with my team daily. We could discuss any any issues and still get the job done. – less

Their Management team was very committed to success and total satisfaction of their customers.
My co-workers were for the most part just like family.
Probably the hardest part of the job was not having enough time in the day, therefore, making me prioritize work assignments.
Completing projects and/or objectives and sharing those successes with the department and/or team. – less

No room to grow
Sr. Buyer (Former Employee), Wichita, KS – October 27, 2012
Pros: enjoyable work
Cons: no room to advance, low salary
Cessna Aircraft was a great place to work. I left Cessna because I had a chance to move directly into a Sr. Management position with a company in Orlando, FL. I learned an exponential amount of knowledge concerning Supply Chain and aircraft in general during my career at Cessna. The most enjoyable part about this job was being able to interact with – more... the different suppliers that I had and keeping my customer (production line) happy. – less

An extraordinary aerospace company with ample opportunities for growth and advancement!
Configuration Managment/Engineering Data Release (Former Employee), Wichita, KS – September 25, 2012
Pros: exceptional company to be a part of, an extraordinary ability to grow within the company, excellent benefits, dynamic group of people to work with, and education reimbursement
Cons: can be an unstable field to work in due to economic downturns.
Performed all functions to promote smooth and efficient information management operations including presentations, trainings, and data operations.

I began working at Cessna Aircraft Company when I was 19 years old, and enjoyed the opportunity to be a part of such an outstanding team. When I began working there I started out in an entry-level position – more... and soon received more learning opportunities and growth, including training and conducting presentations for a new program that was designed to streamline the process from an engineering phase to the building phase. Enjoyed working with and learning from my co-workers and the experience I gained. – less

Cessna took a profitable busy from Columbus, GA and sent it to Mexico.
Manufacturing Tech II Group Leader (Former Employee), Columbus, GA – August 17, 2012
Cessna was a great company to work for, with great wages and benefits. We produced quality product and had an exceptional on time delivery record. Then they decided to put all of the best people out of work, close the Columbus, GA plant and move to Mexico. I think they made a big mistake. And I know they hurt a lot of families just to try and make a – more... quick buck. I do hope they have realized their mistake, but it's too late to help those of us who lost our jobs. Out of work since 02/2012 and still searching. – less

On the decline
Engineering Specialist (Current Employee), Wichita, KS – July 3, 2012
Pros: work environment
Cons: benefits or lack thereof
Cessna has slowly been on the decline the last few years. Slowly taking away or reducing benefits that drew many in despite the lower pay than competing companies in Wichita. Cessna used to feel like a small family company where even the lowest person on the ladder had a say in what direction the company should go. Now the corporate machine driven by – more... Textron has taken over and put profits above people and essentially stripped Cessna of its appeal. Now many are leaving to persue higher paying jobs with similar benefits and Cessna has yet to attempt to compete. Cessna is replacing people with 10+ years of experience with new college grads and refusing to hire experienced workers. With the economy rebounding, Cessna is not positioned to take advantage of new opportunities. – less

Take the bad with the good...
Group Leader Press Brakes/Rollform (Former Employee), Columbus, GA – June 26, 2012
Pros: air conditioned facility.
Cons: lousy health insurance
I rate Cessna about average for a company to work for. I was very dissapointed with them that they would put all of us that had worked for them for ten to twenty years on the street, jobless and take our jobs and give them to Mexico. Nuff said.
