Sheet Metal Mechanic (Former Employee), Wichita, KS – February 27, 2013
I was trained by Cessna and would have never left this job had it not been for layoffs. I genuinely enjoyed my co-workers and the company itself. It was hands down an awesome experience and taught me a huge amount of skills and gave me knowledge that will last a lifetime

I enjoyed the time I spent at Cessna
CNC press brake operator (Former Employee), Columbus, GA – October 16, 2012
The days were always quick because you stayed busy with the work load that was always there. I learned to work with my co-workers and help others that needed assistance. I had to work closely with management and engineering on certain jobs that assembly was having problems with down the line. The hardest part of my job was watching this company pull – more... out of Columbus Ga, and move to Mexico. I enjoyed all of the people I had a chance to meet and get to work with through out my years of service and the chance to learn more about the machinery I ran and to introduce easier and faster techniques on producing quality parts. – less

good place to work but parent company sold us out to Mexico!
Machinist Assistant (Former Employee), Columbus, GA – September 24, 2012
I had the opportunity to work with and learn from some good people. Friendships that I had with co-workers will always be remembered. Management was demanding but if you put forth the effort it would be noticed and appreciated. It was very hard to move to new jobs and try to keep up production. The most enjoyable part of the job was to accomplish atask – more... given to me and see the part in working order when it was complete. – less

Great people, not so great company.
a&p dept 573 (Current Employee), wichita,ks – September 8, 2012
Pros: employees
Cons: no transfers/ promotions
The contract is a joke, starting pay is low, healthcare is the worst I have had in my lifetime, managment is very difficult to work with, the job is easy, people are great. Lots of "GREEN" mechanics out of school all sent to 2nd shift and just a few mechanics to train all the new guys. Dept. 573 service center has not transfered/ promoted one person – more... for over 5 years!!! Raises are lower than industry standards, If you have 2-4 yrs dont go here!! If your fresh out of school its a good place to get your 2-4 yrs experience in, then move on down the road. Starting to become the revolving door company, one in two out. Lots of bitter individuals real tired of the 5 yr run-a-round. A few 10 plus year mechanics STILL stuck on 2nd shift, STILL looking for that transfer. Lots of people going from A&P back to the factory to sheet metal positions due to no promotions/ transfers. Been over a year 2 nd shift has been waiting to go to 4X10hr shift that 98% of mechanics petitioned, EVEN THOUGH a few years back they had 4X10hr and it worked JUST FINE. Cessna does not care about employees at all, just HUGE profits. Moral is sickening. Losing lots of guys and they cant seem to hire a soul. The factory is a real good place to work.....But dont waste your time at Wichita citation service center dept 573, HUGE JOKE. Tons of MANDITORY overtime, I hope you dont like weekends, or family time. If you love JET time you will do fine. – less

Jack111 – August 1, 2012

A new economy, a new attitude. I was called back, left a good job and got a dead end job. If your ex airforce you will excel at this job, if your not plan on 2nd shift for 6-10 years....closer to 10. Unfair advancement, no shift transfers, poor managment, lowest moral in the country. Low A&P pay, Great working conditions, and some of the best friends I have, otherwise I would (DID) pass on this one.

Cessna was , great company to work for.
Final Line Assembler (Former Employee), Wichita, KS – June 13, 2012
Pros: raises every 2 to 3 months
Cons: broken communication with management
Some days good, some days bad, I had good foremans and I had bad formans, production is good when you have the tools to work with and helpful management, pressure from management, always made days alot longer, and alot stressful.
Management could be better, the lack of communication and understanding how production change from time to time, and the – more... extreme pressure without any compromise.
my co-workers were good to work with if they to weren't under alot of stress. Then there were those, who participated in the good ole boy system, that didn't have any pressure.
Hardest part of my job, was the lay-offs, taking over other jobs, and given a certain amount of time to complete tasks, management not understanding, that jobs are different then others, but you are expected to perform and function, because of your years of experience.
I enjoy working for Cessna, and trully miss it, The best part about Cessna Aircraft, is.......well Cessna was my second home! – less
