Manage a fleet of designated drivers and tractors. Maintain relationships with Management, Office Personnel, Customers, Drivers and Vendors to ensure company goals are met. In addition, manage fleet and make capacity available, manage driver performance and promote safe operations.
Manage driver and make capacity availability by maintaining seated truck count, keep driver turnover down.
HR duties including new hire application, drug testing, background checks, training videos, orientation and employment verifications.
Build and maintain quality relationships with drivers.
Establish company performance objectives with drivers and monitor performance. Perform annual performance review with each driver in fleet.
Ensure on time service is met; address possible service issues in a timely manner while coordinating with dispatch.
Promote safe operations by monitoring and insuring driver’s participation in all safety related training, hours of service compliance, and drug testing compliance. Reminds driver of the importance of operating truck safely.
Monitor fuel consumption and review reports for fraud.
Meet or exceed utilization expectations of the fleet by verifying the status of all drivers and addressing any service alerts.
Document any issues that may lead to disciplinary action or termination. Make recommendation as to the action needed to resolve the issue, including write-ups and terminations.
Responsible for the general welfare of a driver while he/she is over the road.
Ensure driver compliance with all company policies and act as liaison for drivers with issues concerning other departments.
Maintain proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the department is operated in an efficient and cost effective manner.
Prepare presentations for Quarterly Company Safety Meetings.
May include other duties as assigned by Management.
Key Knowledge and Experience
Must have a valid Class A License
Some College Preferred
Minimum of 5 years relevant experience required
Knowledgeable of D.O.T rules and regulations
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
Strong problem solving and innovative thinking skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of regulations impacting daily operations. (DOT – national and state)
Demonstrates a basic knowledge of U.S. geography and the calculation of transit times across multiple U.S. time zones.
