Assistant Manager (Former Employee), muncy, pa – May 10, 2013
Pros: discount on shoes
Cons: benefits
A day at champs sports would be to sell as much merchandise as possible. One thing I learned at champs would be that if a customer/person came in with a bad attitude due to the fact of their order or just how there day was going I would try to get them to sign up for our loyalty cards to get them a discount at that time and in the future but by the – more... end of the conversation they had a smile never a frown. Employees and managers at champs were great we worked as a team and got our duties done in time and try to get a head start on tomorrow my setting up the manic-ans for a certain promotion. Hardest part of the job which wasn't hard would be to try sell what we called a 1-2-3 which is shoe insole and socks. Enjoyable part of the job was I worked in the mall so there were always good places to eat during your break. – less

Review of Champs Sports
Sales Associate/Cashier (Current Employee), Altoona, PA – May 7, 2013
Pros: commisson
Cons: low salary
The store itself is a great company to work for, however, the location is not the environment in which commission is high.

Best place to work if you love shoes
Asst Manager (Former Employee), Las Vegas, NV – April 26, 2013
Pros: the employee discount
Cons: long training for an asst mgr position
Could be slow at times but when it was busy the fast pace of the store was awesome. Co-workers helped eachother out all the time. Co-workers were also competative with eachother when it came to customers, it was like a friendly competition amongst family. Maintaining the cleanliness of the store could be a little overwhelming due to all the folding – more... but when it was slow it helps with the passing of the day – less

Enjoyable
Manager In Training (Former Employee), Wilmington, NC – April 18, 2013
Pros: very enjoyable company to work for
Cons: i don't recall any negative aspects
Working for Champs was a great experience. I was in a Manager-In-Training position and learned quite a bit about people and their attitudes. I really enjoyed my co-workers and Champs was located in the Independence Mall in Wilmington, NC, so I inter-acted with various amounts of people. Hardest part, I don't feel that there was one. The most enjoyable – more... was the people and the job itself. If I had known that my employment with ABRA would have only been less than two months I would not have left Champs. However I was excited about working in a field that I had gone to school for. I could not go back to Champs because there were no openings at that time and that is how I ended up at PETCO. – less

Great place to work with shoes
Sales Person and Cashier (Current Employee), Little Rock, AR – April 17, 2013
A typical at work consists of keeping the store in clean and handling the transactions at the register. I've learned how to have good people skills and how to handle a customers with different situations. The management is amazing and their flexing with your schedules. The hardest part of the job might be its very demanding and busy doing the holidays. – more... The most enjoyable part of the job is that its laid back environment for the most part and that its a great place to network. – less

Fast pace
Head Cashier (Former Employee), San Francisco, CA – April 15, 2013
Working for Champs Sports was very time consuming and fast pace. It was my first job where I held an important position. The company itself is a decent part time jobs for students. However management and my coworkers didn't seem to take their work seriously. The hardest part about working for Champs was the holiday season; retail and the holiday season – more... can be very intense and stressful, as well as, new shoe releases. The most enjoyable part about working for Champs was being involved with setting up displays to showcase the products. – less

Fun and happy environment with great customer service
Teller (Former Employee), Lafayette, LA – April 4, 2013
Pros: disconts, learning experience, new friends, and awesome management
Cons: seasonal help, not enough cash registers
My day would start off slow, with a few costomers here and there, maybe a few checkouts, returns, and online orders. Working at Champs was my very first job, so i had absolutely no experience at all, i was taught how to count my drawer, to check out customers and often help them to find an item online that is not in the store. My co-workers werevery – more... helpful and patient with me, they worked with me until i learned the ropes. The most enjoyable part of my job was our Jordan release days, we had customers coming in by the boat load and we had to check out alot of people, there was alot of pressure but it was an awesome experience and i loves it! – less

Great place to work if you're just starting out and love athletics.
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Bellevue, WA – March 30, 2013
Working for Champs Sports was a fun place to work. Although we had eyes on us most of the time, we still managed to get the job done.

I learned to be more open towards customers. When I first began working at Champs, I was a fairly shy, quiet person, but you build confidence with every successful sale.

Although we a had a few different managers during – more... my time at Champs, I, personally, never had that big of a problem with our managers.

I loved my coworkers! We were all a big family there. It was tough saying goodbye to them all, but it was a blast.

The hardest part of working at Champs was either when the days were really slow, and we had to keep busy even though everything was finished or on the busy holidays, having to juggle between multiple customers.

However, the most enjoyable part of the job was being able to provide the help that customer was looking for and seeing them leave with a satisfied smile. – less

Extremely productive and fun environment.
Sales Associate (Current Employee), Peoria, IL – March 12, 2013
Pros: discounts
Cons: work environment can be hostile for other employees and it puts me in an awkward position.
A typical day of work consists of having a friendly attitude towards the customers. Assisting the customers with their needs. Shoes sell themselves, I aim to sell socks, insoles, and shoe care. i enjoy my job to the utmost. The managers are very flexible with your schedule and appreciates your hard work and dedication to the company.
