Cook I, Reno, NV - January 24, 2017
Life whirls by quickly most days when we are expecting a large party or several in a single evening. Prep is the most important part of the job. There is always prep to be done to stay ahead of the game. The Chefs are very helpful and offer lots of ideas and guidance when they are available. Everyone is usually good at coming to ones aid if someone is getting behind on something. The most difficult part of what I do is returning to the station from my days off. Things are most always shifted around, moved, and or used up with no backups in place. That is most certainly always a frustration upon coming back from the weekends. My favorite part of my job is mainly the prep itself. I enjoy working with my hands, processing various ingredients and coming up with ideas for our rotating menu items and appetizers. Over all it is a great job for one to have with lots of room to move around and try different things and the employees are very welcoming and helpful. I am simply looking for a bit more stability in a job. I am looking for a job with more consistent hours, consistent workload and opportunities for personal as well as financial growth. Unfortunately the steak houses in casinos don't offer much of either of these. I feel it is time to explore new career opportunities.
