Fun place to work if you like clothes and people.
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Huntsville, ALAugust 27, 2014
Pros: getting to see the clothes before they came out on the floor.
Cons: you don't have set hours or really make good money.
My typical day at work would be to come in, clock in, set my stuff in a locker, grab my name tag, and head out to the floor to see what zone I would be working. Most of the time my zone was the cash register. We would stay pretty busy so I would constantly be ringing people up, but when we wouldn't have any at the register, then I would walk around – more... the front of the store and make sure everything was neat. I didn't really learn anything working at Charolette because I have worked retail since I turned 16, there wasn't much to learn. Unfortunately, my manager was not the most easy or friendly person to get along with, but I did my best to keep her happy. I loved my co-workers. Working with them was like working with family. The hardest part of working at Charolette would probably be deciding where to put out new shipment when our store would be completely full. The most enjoyable part of working at Charolette would be, meeting new people, and getting the first look of the clothes we would get before anyone else. – less

Pros: learn amazing customer service skills
Cons: no benefits, hours cut badly
Work the different zones within the store like fitting rooms, sales floor, or inventory in the back of the store. Assist customers in picking outfits, I became a trend specialist for this company so one of my main duties was discovering new trends and displaying my ideas to the company. Maintenance of the store was key too, we would at the end of every – more... work day we would apply the general cleaning standards and preparing the store for opening the next day. – less

It was a very enjoyable time working with other managers and sales associates. I learned so much about how running a business goes. I would say the hardest part of my job would be just having to make our angry customers happy again and just trying to do anything we could so that they would want to come back to shop. And the most enjoyable part was just – more... assisting other customers to figure out their needs and wants. – less

Pros: very simple duties.
Cons: low pay.
A day at work typically involves simple busy work for the first 2 hours, folding boxes, cleaning up, re-supplying stations etc, followed by our normal workload of receiving in shoes and other accessories for the rest of the day.

Sales Associate (Former Employee), Auburn Hills, MIJuly 30, 2014
A typical day, for a sales associate position, consisted of cleaning the store before opening ( an entire checklist for the morning ) and making sure the promotions were set before opening the gate to customers. While processing shipment, we had to make sure that each customer was greeted and offered a current promotion/sale; they also needed to be – more... checked on after awhile. Cashier, adding on items at the cash wrap, and leaving a great lasting impression. Fitting room maintenance, which consisted of counting items, adding on items while they are in the rooms, making sure everything is fitting how they like, and by doing so--helped maintain low store shrink %. – less

Retail Sales Associate (Former Employee), Columbia, SCJuly 23, 2014
Typical day at work was awesome at Charlotte Russe. I would open and close the store some days. When I open I make sure all the shoes are in the correct place, straightened up, counted the cash registers, dressed the manikins accordingly. I learned more about fashion, I was taught how to actually dress a manikin. It was brought to my attention that – more... Charlotte Russe was actually named after a cake and I just thought that was the coolest thing ever. My manager was young and fun but she was about her business and kept me on track. The co-workers were so nice they all helped each other complete tasks. It was a hard time at first because in retail you can not just stand around the floor you had to work it, clean up behind the customers as well. At first it was hard for me to ring up someone with a return or exchange because it was a long process you had to go through on the computer but you had to remember it and move fast because other customers were waiting behind others in line. The most enjoyable time at work, was just coming we always had snacks in the back, it was located in the Mall so I would always eat out on my break. – less
