High Stress, heavy work load
Supply Worker (Former Employee) –  Solomons Island, MDJuly 19, 2017
Chenega cares about their bottom line and growing as a company. Wonderful coworkers and Manager does her best. Too much work on too few people. They are out of Alaska and regional office is in Virginia. There is such a disconnect of Chenega and the sites they support.
Pros
Decent Pay
Cons
Very little personal life versus work life

Contracts Administrator (Former Employee) –  Lorton, VAJuly 14, 2017
The manager was inexperience and did not work well as a team player. In addition, the culture is not very welcoming. They have there clicks like high school.

Was a poor work conditions , you have to climb into trash cans and remove foreign debris that at not accepted at transfer stations, there are employees without high school educations, the supervisor does drugs ,and they hire people who can't even lift 5 lbs , which doesn't meet the requirements ,

Workplace culture on contract in particular was not the best, however my project manager was amazing. Although Chenega was not the prime contractor for the particular Task Order the PM made the environment as stress free as possible.

Definitely loved working for this contract. Worked at the FBI center you walked in and depending if you needed escorting through the building we get to our desk and work. if you needed to miss a day or a few hours you had the opportunity to make it up so you don't use up your PTO

I love my job. The only downfall is that it is a contract position with no guarantee of renewal. Management is very willing to accommodate and work with staff members whether it be training or personal needs.
Pros
The pay is very competative
Cons
No guarentees of a renewed contract

I only worked a 1-year contract. Chenega provided expected benefits and offered many challenges. The workforce was a mix of relaxed and high-paced team members. Good pay. Much of my time was away from the company as it was a travel position.

Not a bad job just a little stressful.
Security Officer (Former Employee) –  Anchorage, AKJune 6, 2017
The hardest part of the job is having to defuse stressful situation with government employees. Being retired military I did not need the company health , medical, dental insurance. But the company kept the Health and Welfare money and placed it in to a mandatory retirement account with no interest. Not matching. I could have done better with the stock market.
Pros
the pay is good
Cons
the benefits for health insurance, dental is to high and 640 dollars a month

Security contractor, operates on being the lowest bidder
Armed Security Officer (Former Employee) –  Barstow, CAMay 5, 2017
worked for a few military bases here. Job responsibilities included the defense of the base against any external threats at a vehicle checkpoint. We continuously maintained training qualifications in sidearm use, baton, pepper spray, handcuffing, and arrest protocols. Working for this company you will become close to the people you work with because there are never enough employees to cover the shifts available. With that being said your workdays can be unpredictable and you are often needed by a co-worker to fill in when they have a personal issue and don't show up for work. Being former military myself, I got to work alongside active duty personnel and get a sense of camaraderie that is unique.
Pros
Average pay, good training, good supervision
Cons
Unpredictable work hours, low job security

Accounts payables technician (Current Employee) –  Anchorage, AKApril 15, 2017
The management and staff are great people to work for and with.
I have thoroughly enjoyed working for Chenega, and would recommend working here to anyone. The benefits and perks are beyond any place I have worked in the past. Working for a Native corporation is something I would not have traded. Very much a family atmosphere.
Pros
Employee appreciation day, and perks like lunches and gifts from the management
Cons
Cannot find this type of comapny everywhere
