A typical day at work includes stocking information pamphlets, selling and renewing garden memberships, and answering informational questions about the garden. The employees are friendly and helpful, even when dealing with rude customers. The hardest part of the job is learning all the information about the garden because it is ever changing. the most enjoyable part of the job i that it is on the beautiful garden grounds.

Kraft Corporate Campus Garden Crew Member (Former Employee) –  Glencoe, ILNovember 8, 2013
A typical day would be preparing a bed to grow new vegetables and fruits, harvesting new ones, or just overall managing the garden. I learned how to grow various vegetables and what it took to keep them healthy. Management were very friendly and helpful. They always encouraged me and let me know when I did a good job. The hardest part of the job was working on some of the hottest days in the summer. The most enjoyable was being the first to taste the fruits and vegetables and helping volunteers.
Pros

Seasonal Farmer (Former Employee) –  Glencoe, ILOctober 24, 2013
A typical day at CBG was very fun and educational. They are very hands on with teaching the importance of eating right and the benefits from it.

I learned a lot of healthy recipes, how to build a garden bed, a compost bin, a green house garden, how to paint and how to grow a garden.

The majority of the management were very friendly and open to meeting people from different backgrounds.

My co-workers were very easy to get along with and very open-minded about the opportunities of working on the farm.

The hardest part of the job was staying in the sun for long periods of time and staying hydrated.

The most enjoyable part was not just working on the farm outside but also getting to work on other farms inside and in different cities.
Pros
Learning how to maintain a healthy vegetarian lifestyle.
Cons
Being in the sun all day.
